[OOC] Quickleaf's Rime of the Frostmaiden [closed but waitlist is available]

You can post my secret. It’s gonna come out pretty quick. I rolled number two.

On that note, the way that I always fluffed temporary hit points is sort of like wolverines healing ability. If my character gets injured while he has temporary hit points, and the damage is not enough to Fully remove those temporary hit points, then what it looks like is he gets hit and injured, and the injury very quickly heals itself. So that’s what happens with the whole fiend warlock ability to gain temporary hit points every time he either kill someone, or they fall dead within 5 feet of him.

So, cool thing about the Playtest’s new Book of Shadows, is it’s a spell. A cantrip. And it’s recastable, and every time you cast it (which takes an hour) you can repick which cantrips and rituals it has. They can only be 1st lvl Rituals, though.

This is to make up for the fact that there is no Book of Shadows Invocation which lets you learn every ritual. Now, Tomelocks can have any cantrip at any time.

Oh, I misread it.
Nevermind then.

PM.

I'll be out most of the day, no updates today, but initial char sheet should be in RG along with the profile inage

And that's my character sheet posted.
@Quickleaf let me know if it works or if I need to change anything.

My character's backstory/secret will be revealed in the course of the roleplay.
Looks great! I double checked everything and got a bit more familiar with the playtest warlock. I appreciate you doing breakdowns of spells, gold, and such. Zeth is approved (y)

I want to use Zeth as an example of how my Item Slot Encumbrance house rules works, so you and others can get a feel for it. Here's what Zeth has:

Equipment: 1 Dagger, Studded Leather Armor, ??? Faction Badge, ??? Faction Codebook, Common Clothing, Cold Weather Clothing, Snowshoes, Crampons, Scholar's Pack, a brooch made from a small insect encased in amber.
Starting Money: 115 (100 +15 + Faction Bade, Faction Codebook Faction Agent + Cold Weather Clothing Snowshoes, Crampons, campaign starter + brooch trinket)
Starting Equipment Cost: -40 Scholar's Pack -45 Studded Leather -2 Dagger
Current Money: 28 GP

He can have 5 equipped items (this is same for all PCs), and he can carry packed items equal to his Strength score (11). Equipped items and packed items are tracked separately, to help clear up instances of confusion re. "what do you have in your hands/on your belt pouch?"

Equipped items are accessed freely in combat/action scenes.
Packed items require an Action to rummage about, find, and draw forth.

Here's how I'm reading his sheet – ideally when you post your PCs you can follow this format...

Equipped Items (3/5): Studded Leather Armor (light armor = 1 slot), Dagger (1 slot), Book of Shadows (1 slot),

Packed Items (4/11): Cold Weather Clothes (1 slot), Snowshoes (1 slot), Scholar's Pack (2 slots, item slot values for packs are pre-calculated and spelled out in my house rules)

Negligible Items: Faction Badge, Faction Codebook, Common Clothing, Crampons, a brooch made from a small insect encased in amber, pouch of 28 gp

Thanks for posting a character image.

Vast majority of the game will be theater of the mind, but if I need to illustrate a more complex scene, it helps haing a token of your PCs for relative positioning.

My character's Worldly trait from being a Backstory Variant Human means he can take any skill, so if nobody wants to take Religion I can just swap it out so we've got the skills covered.

But I think it'd make more sense for a Divine caster to take that or other character who has a backstory that justifies it.

Safety & Horror
I plan on this being a hard PG-13 / light-R, with the general site rules of "avoiding anything that would offend Eric Noah's grandmother" (e.g. avoiding offensive real-world curses/slurs, anything sexual is best left as innuendo or fade to black, etc). However, if there is subject matter that you would like us to stay clear of, please let me know either by PM or posting here.

While I'm embracing the pulpy heroic side of the adventure, and I am injecting a western undertone, Rime of the Frostmaiden definitely has a horror theme. This is mostly horror of the unknown or of secrets lurking beneath things we assume are familiar – for example, often visibility may be limited and you might be able to "see" an approaching silhouette in the snow, but not yet know who or what it is until it's much closer.

Things I will explicitly AVOID include: gore & excessive mutilation, sexual abuse, PCs harming children or detailed description of harm to children, slavery.

Things that may arise during the adventure: creepy children, insects or similar things in the ice, fantasy depiction of insanity (eldritch horror vibes), charm magic pitting people against each other, non-graphic depictions of dead townsfolk, undead.

edit: added this to the original post.
