Ok, now I have my books. The item I was sort of remembering is the Rod of the Pact keeper, which gives you +X to hit (with spells only) and +X to spell save DC. The item is warlock only, needs attunement, and the +1 version is uncommon (+2 rare, +3 very rare). 1/long rest, it *also* allows you to regain a spent spell slot.

... this item is awesome for a warlock :O
Is it uncommon?

You don't need it. You can use that dagger. Here's how it works, now that Mord has had some time to figure it out.

It's a +1 Dagger, a +1 Implement (that can be used by Warlocks, Necromancers, & Clerics with the Death Domain), It has 7 charges which replenish 1d6+1 each day at midnight, which can be used to cast Animate Dead (creating only skeletons, as the flesh falls off any corpse (so no zombies!)). You can use 2 charges for a level 4 Animate Dead (making 3 skeletons). If you use the last charge, it deals 4d8 necrotic damage to you and breaks. If that damage reduces you to zero HP, you die and become a skeleton. It's name is Fleshreaver.

Have fun with that!

And thematic for Bob, I guess?

Don't be casting raise dead too soon now - Malbung may want to speak with them first ;)

edit: Also, I don't know how long this game will go, but if my PC reaches level 6 hexblade, I guess the raising specters power will come from observing the dagger at work?

A lot of NPCs won't be comfortable with it either. You'll just have to maintain a low profile. Maybe buy a bunch of cloaks for your skeletons. Maybe some masks, too. Mord's Silent Army. BTW, while we will use the "Skeleton" stat-block for them, I'm okay if you arm and equip them slightly differently. I think they're a bit too dumb for martial weapons, but any simple weapons would be fine if you want to spend a bit of money outfitting them. I don't think masks would cost more than a couple of silver, tops. Cool ones, I mean.
