The Untamed Wilds: Caravan Campaign

Combat Sequence 2: Part 2

Turtle lunges forward to engage in melee with the closest attacker.

Bolo drops her bow, pulls her kukris and follows. She will attack the same headhunter as Turtle until they are incapacitated and move to the next closest.
OOC: Reacting before anyone else can think too, Bolo and Turtle move to engage in melee, though they are 7 paces away and must close the distance.
10 - 40
GM: Before Bolo or Turtle can finish 2 forward steps, the remaining Headhunters react, each swinging axes toward the nearest Seeker
24 - 44
OOC: Indigo is slower to react than the Headhunter, this time, and cannot get her sword up to block the faster axe swing.
31 - 44
[sblock=Headhunter Male]Attack = 31 + 83 = 114
Defense = 77
Damage = 114 - 77 = 37% * 10 = 4
Armor = 39 < 95 = Vest
Soak = 19 success
Coverage = 30 - 4 = 26 damaged armor[/sblock]
GM: The axe lands, cutting into Indigo's Knobbed Lizard vest, but the blow cannot penetrate, though the armor is damaged.
44
GM: At the same instant the 2 opponents facing Sheldon also bring axes to bear.

[sblock=Headhunter Male]Attack = 72 + 83 = 155
Defense = 80
Damage = 155 - 80 = 75% * 10 = 8
Armor = 68 < 100 = Kilt
Soak = 8 success
Coverage = 30 - 8 = 22 damaged armor[/sblock]
[sblock=Headhunter Female]Attack = 86 + 83 = 169
Defense = 80

Armor = 15 < 92 = Tunic
Soak = 12 success
Coverage = 50 - 9 = 41 damaged armor[/sblock]
GM: Both opponents make hits, the first connecting low with the Corded Ansylin Silk Kilt but not reaching flesh, the second hitting the Lizard Skin Tunic but not able to penetrate.

Sannit keeps fighting.
GM: Also at the same instant, the opponent facing Sannit attacks.

[sblock=Headhunter]Attack = 72 + 83 = 155
Defense = 82
Damage = 155 - 82 = 73% * 10 = 7
Armor = 31 < 85 = Hauberk
Soak = 12 success
Coverage = 50 - 7 = 43 damaged armor[/sblock]
GM: The Headhunter hits Sannit in the chest, but the blow cannot penetrate the Hogskin Hauberk.
44
OOC: Bolo and Turtle continue to move forward, picking up speed, traveling 2 more paces, which puts them at the fallen injured foe. Turtle lands on the prone figure finishing it off while continuing on in stride.
30 - 60
OOC: Just before Turtle lands on the fallen figure, Sheldon reacts to his opponent, slapping at his head with his open left palm, while manipulating way.

[sblock=Sheldon]Attack = 87 + 80 = 167
Defense = 93 + 83 = 176
Lightning = 87 + 51 = 138
Resistance = 83 + 45 = 128
Damage = 138 - 128 = 10% * 11 = 1
Body = 10 - 1 = 9[/sblock]
GM: The aggressive opponent, however, is able to block the incoming blow and resist most of the electrical charge.
38 - 58

Combat Sequence 2: Part 3

Merin will run forward, stopping at the outer edge of his Way manipulation range; he will then set one of the headhunters ON FIRE.
OOC: Realizing he has no need to move forward, Merin chooses one of the opponents facing Sheldon, since he seems to have more than his hands full with them, having taken 2 blows to the armor but having little effect in retaliation.

[sblock=Merin]Fire = 73 + 49 = 122
Resistance = 64 + 45 = 109
Damage = 122 - 109 = 13% * 8 = 1
Body = 10 - 1 = 9[/sblock]
GM: The Headhunters barely flinches as he takes very little effect from the intended fire.
56 - 76

Tor will get a running start, leaping into the air, coming down ON TOP OF the nearest headhunter, bashing him in the head with the shield!
OOC: Tor begins to move forward to join the fray. Just after he begins his first running step, Sannit brings his own axes to bear on his opponent.

[sblock=Sannit]Attack = 41 + 82 = 123
Defense = 85 + 83 = 168[/sblock]
GM: The continually moving Headhunter avoids the incoming swing, and being significantly quicker at this instant's reaction, counters. The opponents facing Sheldon and Indigo are also able to make secondary swings.
71 - 95
[sblock=Headhunter]Attack = 87 + 83 = 170
Sannit Defense = 80 + 82 = 162
Damage = 170 - 162 = 8% * 10 = 1 ineffective[/sblock]
[sblock=Headhunter]Attack Male = 80 + 82 = 162
Sheldon Defense = 82 + 80 = 162 block
Attack Female = 11 + 79 = 90
Defense = 55 + 80 = 135 block[/sblock]
[sblock=Headhunter]Attack = 97 + 83 = 180
Defense = 82 + 77 = 159
Damage = 180 - 159 = 21% * 10 = 2
Armor = 57 < 95 = Culottes
Soak = 8 success
Coverage = 30 - 8 = 22 damaged armor[/sblock]
GM: The 2nd combat sequence was almost an impasse, with barely any harm coming to the Headhunters, except the 1 Turtle finished, and only armor being damaged upon the Seekers. At the close of the 2nd Sequence, Indigo is still facing 1 opponent. Sheldon is facing 2 opponents, Sannit is facing 1 opponent. Bolo and Turtle have reached melee, coming up behind the 2 facing Sheldon, since he needs the most help. Tor has leaped into the air and is coming down toward the opponent facing Sannit. Merin moved a step to his right to clear his line of sight.

Combat Sequence 3

[sblock=Sequencing]Headhunters = 69 + 31 - 36 = 64
Sheldon = 01 + 43 - 43 = 01
Tor = 39 - 35 = 04 (ignoring armor: in air from last CS)
Merin = 47 + 39 - 38 = 48
Indigo = 08 + 46 - 40 = 14
Sannit = 57 + 55 - 36 = 76
Bolo / Turtle = 47 + 30 - 35 = 42[/sblock]
GM: Combat Sequencing:
01: Sheldon
04: Tor
14: Indigo
42: Bolo / Turtle
48: Merin
64: Headhunters
76: Sannit

OOC: Maybe its the surge of adrenaline from the impending danger, but Sheldon recovers very quickly from his previous failed attack. Using the momentum from the block, he rolls arm back under and pushes both fists forward at that opponents chest.
01 - 21
[sblock=Sheldon]Attack = 90 + 42 + 80 = 212
Defense = 80
Damage = 212 - 80= 132% * 5 = 7
Mind = 8 - 7 = 1 dazed
Lightning = 33 + 51 = 84
Resistance = 41 + 45 = 86[/sblock]
GM: Sheldon hits the opponent in the chest, knocking the wind from her and dazing her, though his attempt to electrocute her as well, failed.

OOC: Tor attempts to bring his flying mass and his shield down upon the unsuspecting Headhunter engaged with Sannit.
04 - 28
[sblock=Tor]Attack = 73 + 75 = 148
Defense = 83
Damage = 148 - 83 = 65% * 12 = 8
Mind = 10 - 8 = 2 dazed
Motility = 53% * 6 = 3 < 8 = fail[/sblock]
GM: Tor crowns the opponent in the head, not quite rendering him unconscious but dazing him, none the less. He also knock the man to the ground in the process.

OOC: Indigo continues to work her small swords, hoping to find purchase of flesh.
14 - 54
[sblock=Indigo]Attack = 97 + 91 + 77 = 265
Defense = 83
Damage = 265 - 83 = 182% * 20 = 36
Body = 10 - 36 = -26 incapacitated
Mind = 10 - 26 = -16 unconscious
Essence = 10 - 16 = -6 dead[/sblock]
GM: Indigo out races the Headhunters defenses to open his abdomen and end his life.

OOC: Bolo uses her kukris on the male opponent still facing Sheldon as Turtle lunges at the female who appears to be wobbling on her feet.
42 - 82
[sblock=Bolo]Attack = 54 + 73 = 127
Defense = 82
Damage = 127 - 82 = 45% * 20 = 9
Armor = 49 < 51 = skirt
Soak = 10 success
Coverage = 30 - 9 = 21 damaged armor[/sblock]
[sblock=Turtle]Attack = 95 + 94 + 48 = 237
Defense = 73
Damage = 237 - 73 = 164% * 5 = 8
Body = 9 - 8 = 1 severely injured
Mind = 1 dazed
Motility = automatic fail[/sblock]
GM: Bolo swings her kukri catching the Headhunters thigh as he is in continual motion, but it is unable to cause damage due to the hoghide skirt. Turtle catching the dazed female with a claw, causing severe damage and knocking the woman to the ground.

** It is now Merin's action

Merin scowls at the ineffectiveness of his previous attempts. His eyes narrow, as his hand reaches into his belt pouch, and he suddenly produces a measure of lighter pine. The piece of wood glows, dimly at first, then brightly, before bursting into flame! Merin's hand glows with an eerie blue light as he directs Way onto the Headhunter once more!

[sblock=Merin's Rolls]
Base Affect = 8; Lighter pine = +2; total affect = 10
Base Effectiveness = d100 + Essence + Mind + Confluence + Knowledge + Will + Collegiate + Aberrative = 10+10+4+5+4+10+6 = d100 + 49
Lighter pine = +20% effectiveness (1d100+69)

TOTAL DIE ROLL:

Merin gets a 127 on this attempt.

[/sblock]
GM: When you use a dice roller, do not add your bonus in the program. Add it after manually. Remember, I allow for Mulligan Rules. Your functional percentage is 154 not 127.

OOC: The change in the small piece of wood happens quickly. Merin senses it, knows it, but another would have to be watching. The ignition does not burn his hand for the way is manipulated to fluctuate violently upon his intended target rather than the actual location of his own hand.
48 - 68
[sblock=Merin]Fire = 154
Resistance = 42 + 45 = 87
Damage = 154 - 87 = 67% * 10 = 7
Body = 9 - 7 = 2 severely injured[/sblock]
GM: Merin focuses his manipulation upon the only standing foe, which is the male in front of Sheldon, which poses no threat to Bolo's attacking presence or the proximity of Sheldon or Turtle, since no one is in actual contact when the heat erupts. The skin on the back of the male bubbles and runs, but no visible flame can be seen.

OOC: The standing Headhunter screams in pain and spins, swinging his bone headed axe, having no idea that Bolo is not the source of his pain. The other, that Tor had knocked to the ground in front of Sannit, tries to regain his feet, unable to think about attacking from his prone position.
64 - 84
[sblock=Headhunter]Attack = 83 + 75 = 158
Defense = 53 + 73 = 126
Damage = 158 - 126 = 32% * 10 = 3
Armor = 98 > 75 = skin
Body = 10 - 3 = 7 hurt[/sblock]
GM: Bolo is not able to re-post to defend against the incoming axe, which catches her exposed arm, cutting into the flesh.

OOC: Before the fallen foe at his feet can rise, Sannit brings his own axe down at him.
76 - 96
[sblock=Sannit]Attack = 52 + 50(prone) + 82 = 184
Defense = 71 + 75 = 146
Damage = 184 - 146 = 38% * 20 = 8
Body = 10 - 8 = 2 severely injured[/sblock]
GM: Before the Headhunter can rise to his feet, Sannit brings his axe down upon his left flank, cutting into the flesh and spilling much blood but not killing him. The Headhunters that are yet living are all severely injured so as to severely impede their ability to react in a timely fashion, though they froth at the mouth and desire to do so. The Seekers dispatch them quickly with sword and spear. Sheldon, who is empty handed, simply slides back out of the way.

OOC: Bolo is slightly injured. (Body = 7)
Sheldon has damaged armor. (Kilt = 22/30, Lizard Tunic = 41/50)
Indigo has damaged armor. (Lizard Vest = 26/30, Culottes = 22/30)
Sannit has damaged armor. (Pigskin Hauberk = 43/50)

GM: Before dispatching the last survivors, the combat took a total of 4 seconds.

The Aftermath

OOC: The Seekers, once again, find themselves victorious, though the mindlessness of the attacking foes still makes no sense.

The Headhunters are all wearing decent armoring of warthog and javelina hide and very poor weaponry, identical to the previous encounter. Their charcoal black skin covered with muddy paint as well.

Sheldon -
Wow! I think those were tougher than the last group. I feel significantly fatigued, and I don't feel like I did much of anything. Thanks for the rescue. Indigo, let's look at that cut on Bolo's arm. By the way, with everyone this close in, I can sense that the eleventh person is still in the cave and does not seem to have moved.
GM: Merin, too, notices that he seems unnaturally fatigued.

Indigo takes some herbs from one of her pouches and presses them to Bolo's wound. Instinctively Bolo manipulates way simultaneously with Indigo causing the wound to completely close, barely leaving a thin scar.

[sblock=Heal Body]Indigo = 44 + 10(herb) = 54
Bolo = 45
Heal = 54 + 45 - 27 = 72% * 18 = 13[/sblock]
Sheldon -
Well? Do we walk right in, or how do you want to handle it?

San-Bolo nod and move to the front of the cave with Turtle following. They are cautious but unafraid and will lead the way in with whoever wants to go. If the inside of the cave is too dark, they will use way to enhance their vision to see better.

Tor offers to share the frontage, especially since he has the big shield. He offers to shield (walk in front of) Bolo, since she prefers missile weapons to begin with, walking in alongside Sannit. Merin will follow close behind, ready to use Way if the situation warrants it.

OOC: Sannit and Tor take the lead with Bolo and Turtle close behind. Merin, Sheldon, and Indigo follow behind in a triangular formation. Merin and Sheldon still feel a little fatigued, but they have recovered, somewhat.

GM: The area is not a true cave. The entrance room is approximately 2 paces wide and 4 paces long. The is a cook fire burning in the center. What little smoke is produced escapes through a step wide crack in the ceiling, which also offers plenty of lighting. There is a single hand-breadth cracks down the walls on both the right and left of the entrance. There is a larger opening to the rear large enough to pass one person at a time. Light plays in the back area showing that sunlight can also enter there and that there is another fire. The back area is where the other person is located, but due to a dog-leg turn, the area cannot yet be seen.

The front room is littered with debris and stinks. The bones of people and animals are cast about in disregard, some pieces still on the fire. Various poor grade fur piles indicate this is a sleeping area as well.

OOC: The stench takes a moment to get used to and Turtle involuntarily rubs his nose with his paw.

A female voice comes from the back area.
Natase, mere pyaaron! Kya tum mujhe laaya hai?
GM: What do you do?

Merin SILENTLY motions for everyone to stop. Then he begins to concentrate, using Way. His hope is that when the other Seekers feel it, they will join in. He is trying to detect people in the immediate area, to make sure this female voice is truly alone, and he is ALSO trying to sense whether or not this person is touched by the Way.
