Who cares about teleporting people into falling damage? That might come up once in a campaign, if ever.

The ability is amazing because it enables you to actually hold aggro as a tank, something every other subclass in the game lacks.

More useful for making opponent cone to you or putting opponent on a zone/emanation.

You could teleport someone to you in a crap area then attack and push them.

I mean, you could cast hold person on a foe and achieve the same ... but that's me being pedantic. It really is a very, very good ability, even without the mistaken idea of flinging people into the air.
