Day 96: Initiating Combat, Part 6

Bolo sees the thick hide of the lizards and intends to try a new tactic, to alter the composition of the lizard's body that Sannit attacked and cause it to burn from within. (Acidify)
GM:
OOC: Acidify:Affect / Range:
  • Cohesion + Evocation +
  • Will + Discipline
Effectiveness:
  • Essence + Cohesion + Evocation +
  • Mind + Knowledge + Will + Wisdom + Discipline +
  • Collegiate + Academic
This causes the fluids in the target to become acidic thereby causing harm (loss of Body).

Bolo: 19 paces, 70
Effectiveness: 70 + 95 = 165
Resistance: 45 + 61 = 106
Damage: 165 - 106 = 59% * 19 = 11 - 2 (soak) = 9
Body: 4 - 9 = -5: incapacitated
Mind: 10 - 5 = 5: conscious

Bolo's ability to alter the liquid composition of the lizard's body causes considerable physical damage on top of the previously sustained electric shock. The lizard is now incapacitated, though conscious.

Turtle intends to attack the leg of the same lizard Sannit did with a paw strike, hopefully knocking it down or breaking the leg to cripple it.
Having no knowledge of the fate of the forward lizard, Turtle pounces on top of it, bouncing a few time until he feels it is not moving. He then step and back away, proud to have saved the people.

Vadin attacks the remaining lizard, striking at it's neck with his sword.
Seeing that the forward lizard is down, Vadin move to engage the one at the rear of the party line.
GM: *Note: Words in Red are abilities and skills Vadin has not yet developed.
OOC: Lethal Attack:
  • Fury + Lethality +
  • Body + Strength + Might +
  • Mind + Knowledge + Wisdom +
  • Combat + Melee + Long
This tasks requires the use of a weapon, though any sharp object held in the hand and used to strike an opponent is considered a weapon for the purpose of determining the outcome of this task. Lethal attacks are intended to damage the body of an opponent. They may also cause a loss of mental faculty (loss of Mind) and ultimately death (loss of Essence).

*colored numbers are links to the online random generator used*
Vadin: 37 + 56 + 47 + 64 = 204
Lizard: 27 + 58 + 95 = 180

Moving toward Indigo's side of the lizard, Vadin whirls his iron long sword toward the swinging neck of quick moving beast.
GM:
OOC: Damage: 204 - 180 = 24% * 30 =
7 - 21 (soak) = -14: ineffective

Vadin is surprised at the toughness of the lizard's skin. His sword showed all the cutting power of a mere stick.

Saemund will throw his carving axes at the lizard Sheldon attacked.
Seeing that enough of the others have begun to close in on the remaining lizard, Saemund looses his carving axe at the foe.
GM:
OOC: Shoot or Throw:
  • Projection (Collegiate Task) + Trajectory +
  • Body + Motility + Flexibility
  • Mind + Knowledge + Wisdom
  • Combat + Projectile + Thrown
The Shoot Task, of course, requires the use of some type of bow, though anything from simple to mechanical qualifies. The Throw Task does not require special weaponry but considers any object launched by hand, even bullets from a sling. Fired or thrown projectiles are designed to cause lethal damage (loss of Body); and if significant enough, can also cause the loss of mental faculties (loss of Mind) and possibly death (loss of Essence).

Saemund: 0 + 46 + 48 + 50 (range) + 88 = 222
Lizard: 27 + 26 + 80 = 133
Damage: 222 - 133 = 99% * 15 = 15 - 21 (soak) = -6: ineffective

Saemund aims his axe well. It flies between Tor and Vadin striking the shoulder of the lizard, but it bounces harmlessly off the seemingly impregnable hide.

Day 96: First Combat Sequence

In just under two second's time, one lizard is down. The other is hurt. No party member has been hurt. Indigo and Sannit are only mildly dazed. Their senses should return to full capacity in a matter of seconds.

The remaining lizard turns its attack intentions away from the prone Indigo toward Tor.

OOC: Sequencing:
Saemund: 46 + 46 + 86 = 178
Bolo: 56 + 49 + 65 = 170
Merin: 56 + 50 + 63 = 169
Indigo: 51 + 62 + 54 = 167
Sheldon: 56 + 55 + 54 = 165
Sannit: 44 + 52 + 65 = 161
Tor: 51 + 45 + 63 = 159
Vadin: 36 + 56 + 61 = 153
Lizards: 0 + 59 + 51 = 110
Turtle: 0 + 35 + 65 = 100
Myth: 0 + 33 + 63 = 96

Saemund runs at the remaining lizard screaming with his arms raised. He is attempting to draw it's attention so that the others have a better chance at killing it. When he reaches the lizard he will parry any attacks but not attack it himself.

He would rather attempt to kill it by taking its head, but he wants to keep the hide intact.

Never one to back down from a challenge, Sannit intends to summon an electrical charge through this spear tip, leap back in at the other lizard, and strike the leg to trip it.

Bolo intends to try and paralyze the lizard with Way.

With his confidence high after trouncing the other lizard, Turtle intends to attack the last opponent with Sannit, targeting the same leg.

Being a few steps away Saemund charges quickly at the the lizard to cover the necessary ground.

Bolo intends to try and paralyze the lizard with Way.
Bolo concentrates for a second, getting the feel of the lizard's presence.
OOC: Reaction: 170 - 100 = 70.

GM: Posting for Tellerian Hawke per text.

Not understanding why the phoenix feather did not react to his first attempt to generate fire, Merin holds it forth and tries again.
OOC: Reaction: 169 - 100 = 69.

Indigo rolls to her feet in hopes of reengaging the lizard.
OOC: Reaction: 167 - 140 = 27.

Realizing the danger of generating electricity with so many of the party around the lizard, Sheldon waits to see what transpires.

Day 96: Continuing Combat, Part 3

Never one to back down from a challenge, Sannit intends to summon an electrical charge through this spear tip, leap back in at the other lizard, and strike the leg to trip it.
Having to cover a short distance of 3 paces to reach the other lizard, Sannit gives all speed that he can as he can see that the remaining foe is still faster than its opponents.
OOC: Reaction: 161 - 150 = 11.

GM: Posting for Tellerian Hawke per text.

Having the same notion as Sannit, Tor swings his sword at the attacking lizard this time augmenting it with electricity.
OOC: Reaction: 151 - 100 = 51.

GM:
OOC: Defend vs Attack:
  • Konokoro (Collegiate) + Defensiveness (Commercial) +
  • Body + Motility + Flexibility +
  • Mind + Knowledge + Wisdom +
  • Combat + Melee + Long
This task is considered reflexive or subconscious in nature, as it applies even if the defender is slower than the attacker. The defender must, however, be aware of the attacker, as being surprised allows for no defense.

Tor: 41 + 32 + 52 = 125

Though hurt, the enraged lizard launches its body at Tor, hoping to knock him down in order to bite him.
OOC: Reaction: 110 - 20 = 90.
Lizard: 59 + 61 + 73 = 193
Damage: 193 - 125 = 68% * 19 = 13
Will: 17 - 13 = 4: dazed
Motility: 10 - 13: -3: prone

The lizard slams its body into Tor, knocking him from his feet and momentarily dazing him as the wind is knocked from him.
