TUW: The Steel Trade [IC]

As the dust settles Sannit does not let his guard down, staying close to Bolo and Turtle in case she needs his strength to help with healing. "Keep your heads on a swivel," he tells the rest of the group, "just in case anyone else wants to try the Southroad Seekers."

Bolo strokes Turtle's fur, attempting to ease his pain. If it is better to do a group heal with Vadin included then she will wait to heal them both at once. If Vadin does not need a group heal she will attempt to heal Turtle, using her bond with Sannit if she needs it.

Saemund sends Feroz feelings of gratitude and respect, and requests that he fly to an altitude where he can watch for anyone approaching their position. Saemund walks higher up the ravine and begins to feel for people.

Day 122: Tending the Wounded

As the dust settles Sannit does not let his guard down, staying close to Bolo and Turtle in case she needs his strength to help with healing...
GM:
OOC: Invigorate:
Range: Touch
Effectiveness:
  • Essence + Adhesion + Invocation +
  • Mind + Knowledge + Will + Wisdom + Discipline +
  • Collegiate + Academic / Theologic
Sannit: 62
Bolo: 70
Time: 10 days[loss / (target Confluence + target Will + Effectiveness + d100)]
  • = 10 * 11 / (5 + 132 + 95) = 11 hours

Turtle rests comfortably. It will take some time for him to heal. The small plateau in front of the cave opening seems a defensible enough position to wait out the necessary time.

Vadin is not physically hurt but is still trying to clear his head. Sheldon moves back toward him and puts a hand on his shoulder.
"This should help."

GM:
OOC: Stoicism:
Range: Touch
Effectiveness:

  • Essence + Cohesion + Evocation +
  • Mind + Knowledge + Will + Wisdom + Discipline +
  • Collegiate + Theologic
Sheldon: 73
Time = 1 Hour[Loss/(target Persona + target Cohesion + Effectiveness + d100)]

  • = 8 / (8 + 7 + 73 + 95) = 3 minutes

It seems no time at all for Vadin to clear his head.

Day 122: Scoping the Area

Saemund sends Feroz feelings of gratitude and respect, and requests that he fly to an altitude where he can watch for anyone approaching their position. Saemund walks higher up the ravine and begins to feel for people.
GM:
OOC: Sense People:
Range:
  • Adhesion + Persona = 13 strides (~39' radius)
Effectiveness:

  • Mind + Knowledge + Persona +
  • Collegiate + d100
This active task is used to detect the presence of people within the effective range. The specific race or tribe of people may be in mind and can be as specific as adolescent male Maldrog or as general as any people. No specificity is necessary, unless in an urban setting where trying to sense all people would generally create overload. This task will not detect animals, even sentient animals like coatls or dragons.
Effectiveness: 53 + 81 = 134

From his vantage point higher up, Saemund can see both of the fleeing Mhytres until they leave the area. He does not detect anyone else, even from within the cave.

Feroz flies until he gets tired. He does not give a cry of alert, indicating that no people came into the area.

Vadin, feeling better in his head, begins to think ~that was much more difficult than I thought it would be, I need to keep working to develop other ways to battle beyond just my sword.~

He then says to Sheldon, "Thank you for clearing my head up, I feel much better now." He then looks at Merin, who undoubtedly saved him from much more harm and says, "and thank you Merin, for taking care of that Myhtre before he got the better of me."

While waiting for Turtle to heal Sannit calls the Seekers together. "That could have gone worse for us, and I admit I let my guard down at a bad time. If we encounter another group we should select a spokesperson, different each time so we don't get too stuck in our roles, to speak for us while the others stay wary in case of treachery. What do the rest of you think?"

Bolo does not leave Turtle until he is well.

After the conversation Sannit will search for minerals and metals with anyone that wishes to aid him. Of course he gives special attention to the mine but he will search the general area too in case there is something hidden from the mhytres.

Technical Post

OOC: Saemund upgraded Strength to 10 which conveyed 1 point to Might, Adhesion to 8, Wisdom to 2, then Might to 2.

I have been working on progression table for all encounterable creatures in the game which has changed and improved the stats for Turtle, Myth, and Feroz.

Feroz increased body to 9 and saved 4 XP.

OOC: Vadin upgraded Collegiate and Combat to 6 and Flexibility to 4.

Saemund gets tired of standing on the ridge and has a thought...he walks up to a tree and puts his hand on it and attempts to feel the life force in the tree. He doesn't think trees have a brain but he's not sure about a lot of things. So he sends the tree feelings of peace and plenty. Then he asks the tree to stand guard for them. To warn them of any creature that walks by its leaves, or steps on its roots.... Then Saemund walks to another tree and tries a different approach...he attempts to leave traces of way on the tree. He isn't sure if it even works that way so he runs his hands on the trunk and leaves almost like is he trying to wipe something off his hands. He is trying to leaves traces of the same type of way he uses to detect people and creatures. Saemund's thought is that if he leaves traces of way on the tree and they are disturbed maybe he would know about it.

Day 122: Testing Ones Own Skills

Saemund gets tired of standing on the ridge and has a thought... He walks up to a tree and puts his hand on it and attempts to feel the life force in the tree.

Range: Touch (deliberate)

This is a modification of the skill used to determine if an item can augment the natural abilities of the possessor or if another being can manipulate way.

Not knowing what to expect, Saemund begins by attempting to sense the life force in a tree as it can be sensed in a person. The tree is obviously alive and growing but whatever makes it so must be different than that of people for no Essence exists as part of the tree. The Way lines pass through the tree and affect it but it has all the practical function of clothing on a person, which is not part of that person.

This is a modification of the task that detects a specific type of animal in that it is being used to detect for functional intellect, something that is known in people and animals.

As he is touching the tree, Saemund senses intellects, but they are all belonging to other things upon and even within the tree. There are insects and worms, tiny reptiles, and even a bird that remains unseen, but the tree itself exhibits no form of intellect.

Saemund deduces that whatever causes life to exist within the tree, he can only measure it in terms of total body. It has health and strength and limited motility. Though the tree can feel the presence of creature upon it, there is apparently no way for it to communicate such other than by the release of pheromones, which people cannot even smell.

GM: Not at all feeling discouraged having gained some knowledge, Saemund uses his skill to manipulate way in order to leave a desired function in a particular place.

He will later come to know that the process is called imbuing which creates a standing node in the natural flux of the existing Way lines.

Try as he might he cannot determine how to cause his manipulation to remain. It unravels in a matter of seconds. Perhaps, he thinks, there is some skill I am yet missing or am not yet adept enough to perform correctly.

GM: Party XP will be awarded for these efforts.

Vadin walks slowly to the burro who was captured and then released and slowly reaches out to touch it. He attempts to reassure the burro that it is ok, and tries to get it back with the other burros.
