Wands and Metamagic?

You can create wands of spells affected by metamagic feats, right? If not, ignore the rest of this post. If so, how does this impact the cost of the wand? Does it cost the same amount of money to create a wand of maximized fireball as it does to just make a wand of fireball?

You use the adjusted level of the spell to determine both the eligibility for placing in a wand, and for the cost.

Therefore, it's impossible to make a wand of maximized fireball.

Just to clarify:
Maximized Fireball is a sixth-level spell, and thus too powerful to go into a wand at all.

However, you could make a wand of Maximized Magic Missile. The cost and construction time are calculated as for a 4th-level spell.

If you design your own Staff, you might even be make a 50 charges staff of maximized fireball, but there is no example for this in the book, so some DMs might simply say no. :)
(I wouldn`t - if you want to use your XPs and Gold for this staff, get it. I doubt it would become unbalanced, at least in this case...)

You can make a wand-like magic item, i.e. a charged item, with any spell. If you wanna metamagic a spell until it's 16th level, you can. Hey guys? Where are getting that you can't make a wand higher than 4th level? I realize under item creation costs it says "4th level or lower, 50 charges, spell trigger" and out beside it says "Craft Wand". But the next one says "Any other spell, 50 charges, spell-trigger" and out beside it says "Craft Staff". What's the difference? None. They both cost 750 GP. Is there a page I am missing that says only spells of up to 4th level may be placed into a wand? I haven't seen it, and as far as I know, you can put 9th level spells into a wand. Anyone care to enlighten me?

I thought that metamagic changed the level of the spell but just the slot that you have to use to prepare of cast the spell from. That's why there is the heighten metamagic, to increase the DC of the spell. Or am I just an idiot and read the rules wrong again.

Sorry, you are reading them wrong again :)

For example:

Maximized Magic Missile (by a wizard)

MM is a first level spell. Memorized plain it takes a first level slot.

Maximized MM is a fouth level spell for all purposes. It must be memorized in a fouth level slot. However, it still counts as a first level against things like SR, etc.

A Heightened Magic Missile can be memorized as a fourth level spell, taking a fouth level slot. Now, however any DC's are higher, Minor Globe of Invunerability no longer stops it (because it only keeps out 3rd level and lower spells).

It a fine line to read into it, don't feel bad about missing it.
(also, anyone correct me if I'm wrong!)

Please leave the high school squabbles in high school.
