Erik

Erik looks around as the others tend the guards wounds. Maybe the leaders of them will be able to undo his petrification spell. Maybe not. He doesn't really cares and succeeds of giving the impression of a man tapping his feet in impatience despite of standing still.

[sblock=OOC]

about the guard killing:

Doing non-lethal damage required a -4 to the attack roll in 3.5.
4e made it easier that you only need to declare it for your blows.
In the current case, with the rolled 19, it means that Lia didn't hit as intended despite of a very good roll. Just my 2 cents.

Stepping out of opposing rooms facing the foyer of the Silver Mantle Company's administrative building are a pair of tieflings, one male and one female. Each wears leather armor and has a longsword readied, clearly ready for battle. They eye you with scorn. The male lets out a battle cry, shouting "The intruders shall be slain!" The female follows with her own cry, "I'll make your deaths quick, but I can't promise they will be painless!"
GM: Initiative Order
Player Phase 5
20 Krawlinstar
18 Erik
Monster Phase 5
15 Tieflings
Player Phase 6
14 Lia
12 Petron

Monster Knowledge: These are tiefling furies, level 5 soldiers, natural humanoids, resist 10 fire. They can mark targets they hit in melee, trip marked targets who try to shift (immediate reaction) and mark targets who hit them as a free action (range 10).

And just a reminder that you have not had a chance for a short rest so you have used any encounter powers used during the fight with the guards.

"Quick, Petron, there are more!"
Erik calls. He takes a quick step before releasing a missle made of magic force that hits unerringly one of the tieflings.

[sblock=OOC]

If we got no rest, I think this is technically the same encounter as before. Not that will change much for Eric, but giving a quicker milestone, if he survives.

Move: to P7
Standard: Magic Missle at Tiefling 2 for 6 force damage (auto-hit). Should be at least 11 sq away, so no marking from the enemy.

The tiefling laughs at your spell, even as it strikes him. "Such puny magic! I will enjoy cracking your own staff in two over your head, right after I am through cutting down your companions of course!" He surges forward and lunges at Petron with his sword (AC 28) slashing through a piece of Petron's newly acquired armor and cutting the flesh beneath (Petron marked by fury2). The wound is terrible (15 dmg) and if it weren't for Petron's significant skill at rolling with such blows, he might be lying on the ground right now.

The other tiefling cackles at the sight as she jumps in just behind her comrade. "Back away sister and make room," she cries to Lia, "I'm coming for the wizard." She makes an earnest attempt to shove Lia aside (bull rush 8) but Lia manages to hold her off, due in no small part to the tiefling tripping up her step a bit as she approached.
GM: Begin player phase 6.
Petron damaged 15 and marked by fury2.

OOC: wolfattack - they're from the Essentials Monster Vault, if the compendium can be believed.

I suppose I didn't explicitly say 'Lia readies an action to shoot anyone she sees that looks hostile' when I had her stand guard at the door, but I would have thought she'd get a shot off before they got into melee....
Lia tried not to laugh. Backing off was exactly what she wanted to do. These two were a whole different level of dangerous than the guards. She'd known Petron a long time, though, and they both knew exactly what tricks they pulled out when things got desperate. She focused her attention on the one in front of her, then shifted back and took a shot. She almost released a shot that would have went wide, but for all she was a city girl, she let the ancestral memories of generations of elves take over and refocussed to find a weak spot in the creature's armor.[sblock=ooc]minor: HQ on fury 1
move: shift to K7
standard: Hunter's Bear Trap vs AC on fury 1; use elven accuracy on a miss
on a hit, target is slowed and takes ongoing 5 damage(save ends)[/sblock]

OOC: (since VV hasn't posted in 8 days, I'm assuming he's still away; I wouldn't normally use a daily when NPC'ing another person's character, but Lia's Hunter's Bear Trap and Petron's Knee Breaker combo very well, and I don't like the idea of fighting level+4 enemies even if there are only two of them...)
Petron followed up Lia's shot with an old soldier's trick, swinging his axe at the knees of the fury who Lia had just shot. Unfortunately, he didn't get quite as clean of a swing as he wanted, and so was unable to completely immobilize the slowed tiefling.[sblock=ooc]standard: Knee Breaker vs. Fury 1
free: mark fury 1

since he missed, all he does is half damage (9 points); on a hit, the fury would have been immobilized (save ends) since it's already slowed. [/sblock]

GM: drothgery, I wouldn't have allowed you to ready an action outside of combat anyway. Initiative is the means of determining whether or not you get to react before your opponent as soon as you become aware of each other. In this case, they won initiative and thus rushed up before you were able to get an attack off.
The tiefling is stung by Lia's arrow striking her in the leg. It is a hobbling wound and she looks like she will have a hard time shaking it off. She lets out a holler of pain, but looks up just in time to see Petron swing. She dodges away, but only barely, and Petron takes out a piece of her in the process, a glancing blow, but enough to draw blood. This only seems to increase her taste for battle. "Cunning foes!" she cries, "battle is all the more sweeter with a worthy adversary."

The effect of the tieflings bloodlust at being struck is almost mesmerizing on Lia and she finds it hard to take her focus away. (marked by fury1)
GM: Erik and Krawlinstar are up.
Petron damaged 15 and marked by fury2.
Lia marked by fury1.
Fury1 slowed.

Krawlinstar,after asking Pelor the divine power to heal the injuries his friend has and asking for additional power in this attack, wielding the mace with his 2 hands he strikes at the Tiefling.the blow is perfect,causing the tiefling a good amount of injuries. There! you see,fool creature? Pelor is at my side against you and your partner! surrender now and i might let you live!
OOC: can i try a diplomacy check here?

OOC: Actions:
Minor: Healing Word on Petron;
Free Action: Divine Fortune on self;
Movement: goes to J8;
Standard: Righteous Brand on Fury1.
