"Vahl, killed? Impossible! But... that's her sword alright." The two human guards next to the dwarf suddenly look nervous, not so sure of their abilities before this foe. The dwarf, in contrast, seems to only grow even more fearless.
"Alright, monster! Ye' just brought down the wrath of the Imperium on ye! Let's get it, boys!"
The Avatar laughs loudly at this development.
"Gahaha! Send entire armies at us, if you will. Your carcasses will fill our ranks that much faster!"
With another quick spell cast, the Avatar's form turns into a mass of shadows twisted into the shape of ravens. The ravens fly right past Jarel-karn and Eithal and arrive near the center of the room, where they reform into the Avatar. She aims her claws at the door.
"ALL WILL DI... DI... di... n - no... not them..." Mid-sentence, the familiar voice of Commandant Vahl comes from behind the Avatar's mask. But it quickly disappears.
"SILENCE! We are in control here!"
The Avatar continues her spellcasting, hurling another explosion at the guards and Beatrice. Immediately after the attack, the Avatar of Ravens begins thrashing about in apparent pain and clutching at her mask in discomfort. Whatever the reason, the movements are compromising her defensive stance. She mutters,
"My... comrades..."
The two human guards display some talent in the arcane themselves; after recovering from the blast, they fire off elemental magic at the Avatar. One conjures a wind tunnel that forces the Avatar even closer to the pack of guards. The other touches the avatar with a magically charged hand, but it seems to have no effect.
The dwarf roars out a battle cry and then swings his flail at the Avatar, failing to connect. He yells to Beatrice,
"If yer a helpless old lady, then I'm a gully dwarf! Now pick yerself up and do somethin' with that sword!"
