Days 137 - 150: Returning to Southroad Fair, part 4

Merin tries to demonstrate, as the group travels, how Way can be used for mundane tasks, such as providing light at night (not just fire, but orbs of light to read by) and also other tasks, such as mending cloth and leather.
GM: Creating a small area of light, up to a stride in radius, is a simple matter that all Seekers, even Vadin, are able to perform. Sannit, Sheldon, and Saemund can all create a much larger area, about a pace in radius. Enough of an area to confuse Myth and Turtle.

OOC: Manipulating Way may absolutely NOT be used to create matter; therefor, cloth, armor, or anything else cannot be mended.

GM: One of the Prospectors who goes by the name Hammer, is a bit larger than the rest of that crew. He likes practicing against Tor with his hammer and own banded shield.

GM: Vadin has increased Knowledge to 10 which coveys 1 point to Wisdom and 1 point to Collegiate. He has also increased Fortitude to 3.

Vadin has a thought, he asks the group,
"All this talk about Way has me thinking, can one use Way to become quicker in battle? Perhaps becoming a little more difficult to be hit? Also, how can one develop their skills beyond touch?"
Indigo upon hearing Vadin's first question draws her twin sabers and steps away from the group a bit to begin moving in a kata pattern, before responding in her unusually rich alto voice.
"Yes, to answer you directly. You should be able to sense the reflexive infusion of it as you naturally move. I have found that I can concentrate on this for a second to move even faster. The increase is not yet significant, but I can feel it like a sense of urgency."

OOC: Stimulate:
Range: Touch
Effectiveness:
  • Essence + Adhesion + Invocation +
  • Mind + Knowledge + Will + Wisdom + Discipline +
  • Collegiate + Academic.
Time: 10 days[loss / (target Confluence + target Will + Effectiveness + luck)]

This active task increases the natural rate of return of the loss of Motility and Body in the target. This can also be used to temporarily increase the effective Motility of if performed on oneself. The duration of such is one minute per cumulative Health ability.

Vadin cannot yet use the factors in red.

Day 150: Arriving in Southroad Fair

GM: The Seekers and Prospectors arrive in town from the direction of the Seekers' Guild site. Construction crews have gone for the evening, as would be expected, but the progress is looking good. The Seekers all agree that the Prospectors are welcome to set up camp on their site and begin business in the morning.

As everyone is unpacking the the animals, Clavo, the head of the Carpenters' Guild approaches. He seems almost excited, which is totally out of character for his normally sour disposition. Seeing Weit's crew he nods to them before speaking.

"Lyndha said you were coming in with more people. I wanted to be the one to give you the good piece of news. We have managed to strike a blow at those goat turds from Asylim.

While you were gone, another assassin was sent. This one may not have been as skillful as the last, but no matter. He is dead. The last one killed our smith, but word has gotten out about the leather armor now available here. You will see when you stop by the store. This one was sent for Raven, but he was not expecting Fallen Leaf and most certainly not expecting that big red wolf.

That assassin was down and dead in the time it takes to blink your eyes. We disposed of the body. Let those Magisters just wonder why no news has returned to them. Anyway, I wanted you to know, and I wanted to be the one to tell you

Sannit claps Clavo on the shoulder. "Well met. That is good news indeed. We have our own success to share. This is Weit. He and his crew are interested in a trade route between Southroad Fair and Bergbaulager. Nothing will be official until they speak with Giodavi, but this could be a prosperous venture for all of us."

Hearing of another assassin Bolo wonders if he carried the same kind of mark as the first. "Since they attacked Raven it seems more likely Martello was targeted to remove his skills from the town rather than something personal. We should speak with Raven and Leaf to learn what we can about this assassin as well."

Despite his distrust of civilization Turtle is glad to see Southroad Fair again. He has an idea to look for a good spot to make a den away from the busy town but close to his people's home.

Tor takes the news with a grain of salt. "If they're serious about sabotaging Southroad Fair, you can rest assured that more assassins will come, and perhaps in greater numbers that just one at a time. If they perceive that they have numerous threats to overcome, they will come prepared. We should all be vigilant. And I still believe that finding allies within rival guilds might help us to alleviate this problem. What has Giodavi to say on this matter?"

Merin nods in agreement. "We need to be proactive, not reactive. We need to take steps to stop these attacks. And we shouldn't act alone. We must pick a side, so to speak. The guilds in Asylum are always in conflict with one another, or at least, that would be my guess. Helping one guild to become dominant would stabilize the situation and bring order where there was once chaos. It's simple economics. Stability breeds profit."

Eager to hone his skills in combat Saemund takes his leave and seeks out someone to train in combat with.

If you are able to look from a computer. The following thread is constant. It contains the information about the known communities. It begins with all pertinent information about Southroad Fair.
TUW: Developing Communities

Southraod Fair is a very small community. The post lists the exact number of adults in town. Only small children are not considered in the count.

GM: Though his exact skill and definitive history is not known, Clavo, the head of the Carpenters' Guild was a soldier from Asylim and fights with an axe.

Day 150: Arriving in Southroad Fair, part 2

GM: Having discussed the news that Clavo delivered, the Seekers all know that the subject will need to be revisited. This issue perpetrated by Asylim, obviously, predates the existence of the Southroad Seekers, but when Tor's and Sheldon's parents were killed while in Asylim, it created a personal stake in the matter. As it is becoming evening, this matter would be best attended later. First, an appearance should be made at the Boar's Head and the Prospectors introduced to Giodavi and Lyndha. Lyndha will likely handle the particulars of trade.

OOC: House Keeping:
What personal tasks is everyone wanting to accomplish while in town?

Depending on how long the party decides to stay, Sheldon plans to work with the carpenters on further construction of the Seekers' Guild House. He also intends to spend time working with Raven and Leaf learning more of working with leather goods.

Indigo will work with the carpenters specifically to attend to the pack animals and further their training. She also intends to work with Maeli and her mother, Alba, to improve her knowledge of herbs and learn the process of lacquering.

Myth travels with the various hunting parties, as long as it is one without that leopard, helping to track game for the town. He often snorts at the bigger cat thinking that the leopard is too big and slow to be as effective of a hunter he is.

San-Bolo go to the Boar's Head to speak with Weit, Giodavi, and Lyndha, but they see no need to participate in the trade negotiations. After a meal and a bath they will settle in with the town elders to discuss matters and tell them of the success of the trip and the exotic scenes of Bergbaulager and the Lunaedriac. They will also help in guild house construction and encourage all the Seekers to participate. "Our name is spreading," Sannit says the first night. "We need to have a proper place to lay our heads at home."

During the stay Sannit will meet with all the Southroad Fair warriors and any Seekers that wish to participate in the regular training regimen. He will stress the importance of continuing to stay alert in the aftermath of another assassin attack. At night at the Boar's Head Sannit will facilitate connections between the different people of the town, including the Maldrog in the conversations and especially the drinking contests.

Bolo will work with the archers and stress the need for effective range weaponry in the town defense. Along with visiting her usual friends, she will invite Saemund and Indigo to meet with the other members of the town bonded to animals to share what they experience with different animal bonds and learn more about this path. At night while Sannit is attempting to play minister of drunkards, she will also be at the Boar's Head, but she does not participate in the revelry. She watches Sannit's back and practices hiding in plain sight.

While the people talk Turtle will check around town, trying to smell anything new or out of place. He will remain friendly with Red Wolf and Leopard as well as hunting with Myth. He tries to signal Feroz in the sky, but he has no idea how to speak bird.

Saemund approaches Clavo. I've heard that you were once a soldier. I would like to train with you so that we may both hone our skills in close quarters combat.
