Imagine your DM says no to Sharpshooter and Archery style for using thrown weapons, but you have a nice weapon throwing concept in mind. What gives the axe chuckers and the hammer hurlers the love? I have (and I suspect I'm not alone) tried to roll up several PC's with this type of concept, but to great frustration. Using a bow or crossbow just gets better range, better damage and some mighty feature and feat support. So with that in mind (and I apologise if this has been done before) could you fine folks help me balance a house-ruled feat? This is what I have so far...
The Weapon chucker (or something)
• Attacking at long range doesn't impose disadvantage on your thrown weapon attack rolls. - ala sharpshooter point 1
• Being within 5 feet of a hostile creature doesn't impose disadvantage on your thrown weapon attack rolls - ala crossbow expert point 2
• While not within 5 feet of a hostile creature, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls when throwing weapons - More reliable than -5+10 but much less damage like duelling style but also with a restriction to not be next to an enemy.
What do people think? Is this too powerful. Does it give the javelin lobbers a nice but steady feat?
Many thanks for your time and replies.
