D&D 5E Weapon Throwing Feat

Imagine your DM says no to Sharpshooter and Archery style for using thrown weapons, but you have a nice weapon throwing concept in mind. What gives the axe chuckers and the hammer hurlers the love? I have (and I suspect I'm not alone) tried to roll up several PC's with this type of concept, but to great frustration. Using a bow or crossbow just gets better range, better damage and some mighty feature and feat support. So with that in mind (and I apologise if this has been done before) could you fine folks help me balance a house-ruled feat? This is what I have so far...

The Weapon chucker (or something)
• Attacking at long range doesn't impose disadvantage on your thrown weapon attack rolls. - ala sharpshooter point 1
• Being within 5 feet of a hostile creature doesn't impose disadvantage on your thrown weapon attack rolls - ala crossbow expert point 2
• While not within 5 feet of a hostile creature, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls when throwing weapons - More reliable than -5+10 but much less damage like duelling style but also with a restriction to not be next to an enemy.

What do people think? Is this too powerful. Does it give the javelin lobbers a nice but steady feat?

Many thanks for your time and replies.

I would put it as a fighting style.

this is too weak for a feat. Or add +1 dex into the mix.

thrown fighting style:

  • you do not suffer disadvantage at long range.
  • you do not suffer disadvantage for attacking with thrown weapons while in melee combat.
  • you draw thrown weapons as ammunition, no action required.

and if you get second fighting style, you can stack up dueling on top of this.

Are we talking that the DM is saying none of the parts of Sharpshooter apply, or just saying that the rules as written apply (which is that the first two bullet-points work with thrown weapons, but the third does not)?

I'm just making sure this isn't a case of player (thinking Archery style and Sharp Shooter work with thrown weapons besides darts) and DM interpretation (as RAW, which is that thrown weapons other than darts are melee weapons even when thrown) mismatch before providing any suggestions that aren't "take the Dueling fighting style for a damage boost, and take Sharpshooter for the 2 benefits it does provide."

Are you saying that duelling fighting style works with melee thrown weapons when you throw them?

I honestly never read it that way

If you're being strict with the wording, it doesn't, because at the point that you make damage rolls, you are no longer wielding that weapon.

Two-weapon fighting style and the dual-wielding feat seem fine for throwers though.

Edit: Ah. If Duelling style been clarified in a sage advice or similar to work for throwing weapons, then fair enough.
