D&D 5E Xanathar's Guide to Everything: What subclasses made the cut?

I don't think WotC cares as much as we do about balancing out the number of subclasses between different classes. This is my prediction, including the four from SCAG.

Barbarian: Ancestral Guardian, Storm Herald
Bard: Glamour, Swords
Cleric: Arcana, Forge, Grave, Protection
Druid: Dreams, Shepherd
Fighter: Arcane Archer, Cavalier, Samurai
Monk: Drunken Master, Kensai
Paladin: Conquest, Redemption
Ranger: Deepstalker, Horizon Walker, Monster Slayer
Rogue: Inquisitive, Scout, Swashbuckler
Sorcerer: Divine Soul, Shadow, Storm
Warlock: Celestial, Hexblade
Wizard: Bladesinging, Thaumaturgy

You list only adds up to 26 (not including SCAG subclasses)

Sorry, this was worded poorly. I meant that a player wanting to play a Deep Stalker would be forced to choose the Revised Ranger document as their +1, which cuts it off from other options for AL play. Much more likely that they release the Deep Stalker for the Base Ranger now rather than save it for that specific document.

no way in living hell is revised ranger a +1 its base rules, hence the use of the word "revision" +1 is for expansions, errata is for revisions.

all precedent for small content bundles and statements about implementation goals indicate its going to be considered PHB content

You've got it completely backwards publishing it with revised ranger allows it to be used with any content, not cut it off.

I'm still mourning Raven Queen Warlock and Tranquility Monk. Those were my two favorites.

My #3 was probably Redemption Paladin. (So I got that going for me. Which is nice.) I loved the concept but the mechanics were...bad. Will be interesting to see the final version.

As has been pointed out in another thread, and by Crawford on Twitter, there will not be two separate Ranger classes. There will only be one Ranger class and everything from the original and revised version will work together and will mesh with all sub-classes released in their official books. It will not just be errata and it will not be put into a new hardcover release and will be free in whatever form it is eventually released, as it will be part of the Core.

They're on record as making all subclasses intercompatible between the two versions of Ranger: the level the subclass kicks in is the only difference.

My one guess about all this miniconversation is that Revised Ranger will be Errata'd into either the PHB or XGE so that you're not penalized in +1 play.

Latest tweet kind of changed everything by announcing they won't probably do a revised Ranger class at all, but instead do alternative class features for the core PHB Ranger. This actually solves both the problems you mentioned.

Now that the Hexblade has given the Shadow Sorceror back her Shadow Hound, there is design room so I can see the Hexblade absorbing the Raven Queen Pact.
