OOC: Tommi was invisible. So how did Lionel see the secret hand signals? Maybe, since Lionel knew where Tommi was located, he could see a change in light refraction that was so obvious to Lionel that he understood them?
Also, Tommi would have advantage on the attack, right?

Legend
Lionel and Tommi had known each other long enough that when Tommi, forgetting for a moment that Lionel couldn't see him, did an old hand-signal, Lionel got the gist of Tommi's intentions intuitively, sight unseen. Though Lionel couldn't quite make out where Tommi was exactly, he made his own way to the corner where he peeked around and saw the brazier-light and the strange Gnoll, and he understood at once that Tommi would be up there somewhere, daring to strike the brute down.

By then, Escella had caught up with Lionel, and Oh-Six was buzzing past them, heading to back up its invisible ally. Morgan and the others were not far behind.

OOC: I will return to post a round-roller & deal with the Gnoll's reaction to Tommi & Lionel's attacks.

Legend
The gnoll glanced up from his work as Tommi entered the room. It sniffed the air for a moment and Tommi lunged with gutter, appearing out of invisible nowhere. The gnoll was fast, suddenly twisting to the side and it reached down to the ground with long, clawed fingers, lifting a wooden staff that had been lying there. No, it was not a staff: Tommi saw the long black blade of a scythe.

What have we here?" it said in a strange double-voice that was at once deep and grawling and high and wheezing, "A new plaything, perhaps."

Lionel's arrow pinged off of the scythe, though it was hard to say if the gnoll had blocked it, or if Lionel had just been unlucky in his aim. Tommi quickly looked around and saw that a pile of bones and rags in the corner was actually another wolf - undead like the one here, and it was rising to its feet and shaking, its eyes glowing green.

Hearing a scuffle, Dr. Wells moved down the corridor. As he rounded the corner, he saw the gnoll and the undead wolf. Lifting his talisman, he cast a spell. Conjured out of nothing, the floor beneath the creatures became slippery and greasy.1 Morgan moved next to Oh-Six2 in order to extend his Ward out to Tommi.3
"Tommi, back out so we can pin them in the room"

1. Moving past Escella and casting Grease on the main gnoll and the wolf.
Dex save, DC: 15 or fall prone . I have line of sight to AK14 when I round the corner.

Grease takes up spaces
--AK/AL

14 ~/~
  • A prone creature’s only movement option is to crawl, unless it stands up and thereby ends the condition.
  • The creature has disadvantage on attack rolls.
  • An attack roll against the creature has advantage if the attacker is within 5 feet of the creature. Otherwise, the attack roll has disadvantage
  • Use half your movement to stand from prone
2. Moving to space AJ-8

3. If Tommi (or anyone within 30 feet)takes damage, I will absorb up to 16 points of damage as a reaction using Arcane Ward. I'm not sure if Tommi gets to apply his uncanny dodge for half damage first. That would be handy.

Oh-Six whirrs up and whistles at Tommi, just as the gnoll says the word "plaything", before it rises up to the ceiling.

Tommi had appeared suddenly, and had forgotten he had been made invisible. He uses that momentary distraction to stab again with Gutter, and this time he connects. The rusty blade digs inside the foul beast rising before him, slicing deeply.

With mock taunting, Tommi answers: "Want a plaything? Let's play tag." He gives the blade a twist as he pulls it out, ducks under the scythe and slips away, leading the gnoll, or and perhaps its pets, away from his companions.

OOC: Oh-Six has a flyby and I hope can stay out of danger.

Attack: stab the gnoll: 1d20+6 (with advantage)=21 (hit). damage=4d6+3=21 magical piercing.
Bonus: disengage and move 30' south (first to AI13, and then to AI18).

Tommi still has his reaction to halve the damage if the first foe to attack him hits. If not, but that foe is within 5' at the end of its turn, Tommi can use his skirmisher to slip 15' further away.

OOC: Vairar is too far away, I was expecting him to be behind Tommi just far enough to be out of sight/hearing. :( Let there be turning! :)
Vairar sets the pike to receive charge if he sees Tommi rushing away from something :)

Neurotic

I plan on living forever. Or die trying.
Lunn awaits a call to advance or to hear some obvious fighting before coming forward. He still keeps behind everyone and moves only as the last of the group in front of him advance keeping rearguard.

Lionel cursed when he missed such an easy shot. He quickly loaded another quarrel and observed the shaman gnoll for a second to see if there was better way to hit him. And, yes, there it was, and he lot the quarrel loose. He ducked back behind the corner, satisfied to have hit the shaman this time.
