Karok turned around and glared at the others before making his way back to them, staff digging in the dirt with feigned irritation. He'd shown them what he could do, and cowed the bugbear. That is all he had wanted to do with his attack. In the end, he did need to work with them.

"My path leads through the mountain, up to a river crossing in a boulder field. It is not difficult to cross, as most of it will be over the boulders," he turns to the Kobald, "Tell us of your path, and perhaps we will determine if it is a better one."

Round 0

As they reached the edge of the forest and the foothills of the mountains, Drutha noticed Ripnek’s hesitation. The annoying orc said he knew a crossing of the river. Drutha admitted she knew little of the mountains. The kobold seemed to know the way, too.

Ripnek glanced at Drutha, wanting to start a fight with the orc. She shrugged. If he didn’t know the way, he was of little use to them. The snakewoman attempted to defuse the situation, and looked to be successful, until the orc whipped out his magic to fire at Ripnek in the back.

Drutha growled at the dishonorable conduct and spun her glaive around. “Try that again, orc, and we will have words,” she promised. She gave Ripnek a nod of approval, keeping an eye on the orc.

“Now a bridge sounds much easier than jumping from rock to rock,” the hobgoblin said.

Ripnek keeps silent after his magical beating, but it is clear to anyone he is brooding. When they reach the crossing, he does not offer his opinion either way, instead seeing how the others react to Karok. It pleases him that at least the hobgoblin is on his side, although he's not sure about the others. Of course, he doesn't even consider the goblin or kobold, because what good would they be in a fight except as a distraction? No, Ripnek aims to get some of the other folk on his side before making a move on the orc - except, of course, if an opportunity comes knocking.

An evil little smile curls around the bugbears lips before he straightens his face. "Strange name," he says half-heartedly at Moon Moon's translation.

OOC:
Does Karok know of this bridge?

No. There's no bridge in Orc territory, certainly.

There are many creatures who make homes in the mountains, however, and most of them more or less keep to their own areas, so it's plausible that there's a bridge somewhere unknown to Karok.

Saashala hunkered down a little to be closer to eye level with Moon Moon.

"Is this bridge something we can all use?" she asks quietly. "Or just you and Nert?"

Not all bridges were made equal, after all. Kobolds were small and lightweight. Imagine Drutha trying to use a bridge meant only to hold kobolds!
