(OOC) The Dog Days of Doom

Not in 2024, no. Just pick Unarmed Strike as your Attack Action and either Roll an Attack (to damage them) OR they roll their STR or DEX Save. If they fail, you Grapple, Push, or Knock them Prone (whichever you picked).
Great! Now if only I had a belt of giant STR...or a way to go over 17 - buhuuu, I want a point buuuuyyyyy :p

...I'm not one to rain on any character concept, mostly because I don't worry about optimization when I'm looking for specific features to match a flavor (see, e.g., my paladin with a penchant for poetry, music, and dance ... yes, I will burn in hell for that) ...

But while I like the grappling changes in 5e24, I do think it dissuades people from building optimized grappler builds, unless they are monks.* For fighters and other classes, it's can be a good extra, but never a great feature. IMO.

*And a lot of the ones I do see, such as a certain one in another thread that I am not getting involved in that was just posted because life is too short, depend on not understanding how grappling and the action economy work in 5e24.

@TaranTheWanderer - just read the post and it looks like "Adar" was used for Dierdre's name. "Adar" ("Father" in elvish) is what Dierdre calls Corellon, her deity. Totally understand the mistake - there's a lot of names to keep straight between here and Fitz's PBP!

No worries, Snarf, I didn't take it in a negative way, I do write and speak English quite well, but as you said, subtle differences are what trips you

Thanks for the help and clarification.

Hey folks, don’t worry about movement and stuff. We are in narrative time, not combat rounds.

@Neurotic make a strength or medicine check to move the man. He’s not conscious. It will put you in danger of possibly getting attacked. Or you can leave the guy to die.

@Neurotic @Lidgar @FitzTheRuke @Kobold Stew @Steve Gorak

FYI, under the 5e24 rules, prone means melee attacks are at ADVANTAGE and long-range is DISADVANTAGE.

Z1 is prone, so if there is one of you that wants to get your melee on, now is a good time. If you're into the long distance pew pew pew ....
