Is the rubble of the building traversable/are the blights too close to clear any of it away?

You could spot a potential pathway through the worst of the rubble (perception) or knock a standing chunk of wall down to make a makeshift bridge or rope & drag a piece of roof for the same result (strength (yours or the elk's or animal handling).

Hey @FitzTheRuke,

Are we waiting for my character to act? The way I read things, it’s the second group that needs to do something. Am I misreading things?
Thanks

I will do a post for Nic, Sartell, and Phlox soon if you & @Snarf Zagyg don't beat me to it. I'm honestly not trying to get out of DMing the scene, in case it looks like it! I just like to let anyone who wants to "collaborate" on it. If it's not clear what's expected, or you'd just rather leave it to me, I'm absolutely fine with that!

Nah, one of the points of this venture is: As long as we are all sincere in our posts (and I have no reason not to trust you all) then I will roll with whatever you post. But I think that this experiment has probably been a bit too tricky for PBP. I did it while running it IRL and it was great, but it also took ~30 minutes, so... I'll just move us along (soon).
