I'm not sure how you are judging this; an issue with half casters is that they get spells too late to be that useful. One of the Fey Wanderer's party pieces is Summon Fey - but on a level 11 battlefield AC 15, 30hp is a speed bump (the CR 11 Roc has +13 to hit and multiple attacks averaging over 20 damage)
I think spells coming online too late should be handled 2 ways. First, half casters should be getting more unique spells. Because they are unique, they should be a bit "ahead" of the power curve than the level would suggest.

Second, I would like to see a come back of the 3.X spell progression at different rates.
For example: Command Plants could be learned by Rangers starting at 3rd level, but Druids wouldn't learn it until 4th level. This would let half casters get spells "early", or at least less late.

I would rather see one spell list for all and Spell points than return of 3X variable spell levels across classes.

now when you think about it, spell points are really elegant solution.

every(casting) class gets certain number of spell points at certain levels.
you can prepare spells and cast spell levels of spells equal to half your character level(round up)

you can only casts a single 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th level spell per Long rest.

Because they are caster spells.

WOTC and TSR are allergic to designing warrior magic.

Get off my lawn!
Next up I guess was the overpowered 1e "Aragorn" Ranger.
I'm curious about the use of this word (bolded). How do you feel the 1e Ranger was "overpowered"?

I always found them effective, but never would have considered them overpowered.

In order to qualify for it, you needed to roll above average states than a fighter.
And you got class features on top of it.

The only advantage a 1e Fighter had is that they were allowed to keep excess magic gear outside your bag.

You also need more XP to level.

So, what? None of that makes the Ranger "overpowered". I'll wait for @S'mon to respond.

Urgh. No. Good riddance rather make them 2/3 casters. Spell levels should have a meaning.

Having to put a high score in non combat stats meant that it was always a tradeoff. Then fighters could specialize in weapons (better) on top of it.

For a paladin, a 17 put in charisma was not put in str, con or dex.

i think doing that does give them a kind of meaning, just as more of a commentary on the caster's capabilities towards certain types of magic, a bard is more competent at charm spells, this can be represented by them being able to cast those spells while requiring lower level spell slots to do so than what a wizard requires.
