Day 302: Delegation Proceedings

Having predetermined who will speak for the Seekers in this matter, Sannit takes a step forward and says, "Thank you for speaking with us today. I know you must have many other things you could be doing, as do we. We have come to ask you today, Magister Cotone, what are your intentions towards Southroad Fair?"
Magister Cotone clears his throat to speak, and the younger of the two Amiradthans on the Magistry stands and interrupts.

"A guard is going to speak! Your guards should stand aside with the Marshals!"
The other Amiradtha looks at him and frowns. The second oldest Ansylin speaks.

"Wait your turn, you pompous twit. Show some decorum."

Seemingly unperturbed by the interruptions, Magister Cotone answers. "Since you mention me by name, that is not a general inquiry. As owner and operator of the cotton trade from here to Boga City, my personal intention would be to add Southroad Fair as a seeling point in between that long and arduous route. At this time, I am unaware of any import item that this city needs specifically from your community, but lumber may be something to consider."

He gestures, "Molo Pesce is the second Magister. As he controls the fishing and is the primary source of food for the city, he deals little with trade, but he will speak for himself, as I think that each of us should, in turn."

When Cotone finishes Sheldon moves beside Sannit. He runs his left hand through his hair pulling it back from his face as he interjects a bit of fact. "We are the Delegation, all of us. We did not travel with guards for we are capable of our own accord, and we certainly need no protection from the people we represent."

Molo stands and motions for the Marshals to retire from their current position. They move away from the Seekers and take positions to the side of the Magisters seated location. Molo is an impressive specimen of Ansylin stock, in spite of his age. His musculature has not faded, and he looks as if he could possibly out strength Tor. He has a hardness about him that suggests his life has never been one of leisure pursuits. He rubs his chin with his right hand. His bicep bunching as he does. "Hmm. I must say, I have some respect for those who look after themselves. Directly, I have no interest in Southroad Fair or Boga City for that matter, but as I control the Wharf District and its entertainment, this current predicament is costing me income. I would see the return of more travelers to drink in my taverns and frolic in the brothels. With the recent loss of my best tavern, I have yet to exact any retribution for that destruction, but I do expect some payment in kind. This, however, has nothing to do with you, so I digress. Xiros Alas, the elder Shimadow is the third Magister."

Xiros Alas stands and moves from his seat to the Seekers. He greets each individually. He seems genuinely friendly and a bit frail compared to the other Magisters, except perhaps Contadino Cotone.
GM: There is enough time in this interim for more dialogue from the Seekers. If not, I will continue in another post.

Sannit says, "Do not take me for a guard simply because I wear armor and carry a spear. All of this delegation have risked our lives for the prosperity of Southroad Fair, which is why we were selected for this honor. I hear in your comments that you are wondering what benefit Southroad Fair has for Asylim." He motions to the rest of the group. "All of this armor was crafted in Southroad Fair, and there are other trade goods that we provide beyond mere lumber, although we would be happy to trade lumber to help in rebuilding taverns or other buildings. The only thing we currently lack in Southroad Fair is a blacksmith, but we are actively searching to fill that position."

While Sannit speaks Bolo watches, especially for any reaction when Sannit mentions the town lacks a blacksmith. She is looking specifically for tells from the Magisters to clue the Seekers in as to who sent the assassin that killed the blacksmith.

Merin nods, and adds, "My comrade speaks the truth, we were all selected for this honor, and we have all contributed much to the initial prosperity of the town. We would greatly appreciate the priveledge of doing business with the city of Asylim, and we believe that such a relationship would not be one-sided, but rather, mutually beneficial. We have a diverse talent pool among the artisans and craftsmen of Southroad Fair, and our growth would in turn spur increased growth here, as well. As to your recent problems, which stem, as I understand it, from internal turmoil resulting in the closure of the foreign quarter, might I inquire as to the reason behind punishing your citizenry, and by extension, yourselves, by locking down the city so tightly? Surely, such a policy is at best, reactionary, and at worst, stifling and harmful to your economy."

Day 302: Negotiations Continue

As Xiros Alas is returning to his seat...
Sannit says, "Do not take me for a guard simply because I wear armor and carry a spear... The only thing we currently lack in Southroad Fair is a blacksmith, but we are actively searching to fill that position."
While Sannit speaks Bolo watches, especially for any reaction when Sannit mentions the town lacks a blacksmith. She is looking specifically for tells from the Magisters to clue the Seekers in as to who sent the assassin that killed the blacksmith.
None of the Magisters react at this acknowledgement, except the younger Amiradtha, who starts to grin, then quickly hides it in a grimace. The slip is small and quick, but Bolo takes note of it. Sheldon catches it as well, but the slip is too quick for any of the others. It is justly suspected at this moment by the two that the younger Amiradtha is Suausedaserp.
Merin nods, and adds,"... Xiros stares momentarily at the Seekers from his seat until the elder Amiradtha mumbles under his breath, then urges him. He speaks, Ansylin, in a calm and kindly manner that does not show on his blank expression. "It is your turn to speak Magister Xiros. Please, address the additional comments as you like so that I may follow you."
GM: Merin notes that the mumble is in Amiradthan. He cannot make out the words but he can tell that they were derogatory.


Xiros clears his throat and then speaks. "I run one of the taverns and control the Salt Caravan, like my father before me. I have known prosperous trade with Boga City for all of my life. I have never before witnessed nor even heard of the conflicts that are currently plaguing us. I also represent much of the Shimadow interests within the city.

As to the loss of your blacksmith, that is a grave matter. I sure it is sorely felt, for even here our craftsmen are simple at best, even those in Boga City are only moderately better and the distance significantly increases trade costs. I have been to Boga City, myself, albeit many years ago before Southroad Fair was a community
."

He turns slightly to face Merin directly as he continues. While he speaks, the younger Shimadow begins to pick at his nails in an obvious dysfunctional motion indicative of boredom.
"You mention some internal conflict here? Punishing our citizenry? You speak of things obviously derived from gossip though I cannot imagine their source. The city has been closed by our decision so that we can effectively have the burned remains of the tavern cleared in a more timely fashion and at minimal risk to personage. Magister Shafemarron can confirm."

The elder Amiradtha, who had addressed Xiros, nods to the Seekers. He moves and speaks with exacting decorum but no expression crosses his face. "Thank you Magister Xiros. Would the Delegation care to add anything further before I comment on the preceding?"

Some of the superstitious fools even believed that the collars were cursed, and that those who tried to remove them would die. I don't know if I believe THAT..."

Merin's gaze meets Saucy's for a brief instant before continuing
"But certainly a collar worn around one's neck is not for the purpose of REWARDING your citizenry, and I can't see the usefulness of a collar for clearing up burnt debris, especially when such collars are worn by people who aren't even in the city. But I digress. Your internal affairs are none of our concern. We are here simply to affect trade negotiations between our two cities. But we DO want to believe that we are trading with a stable government, and that such trade would not be in danger of interruption due to political turmoil."

The younger Amiradtha, who must be Suausedaserp, rolls his eyes at Merin's speech. He exudes the contempt for others in general and the acute narcissism born of privilege, never having experienced any reality of labor.

Molo Pesce gives a deep throated and quiet chuckle of a competent man who enjoys conflict. Contadino Cotone appears offended and concerned. He begins to cough a bit as an indication of elevated stress. Xiros Alas appears confused. The younger Shimadow cracks his knuckles and smiles. There is something not quite emotionally stable in that smile.

Shafemarron nods his head in a patronizing and condescending manner. "Perhaps I can clarify some things for you. Magister Pesce, as these are all delegates, I see no reason for us to keep these extra Marshals with us."

Molo Pesce makes a dismissive gesture and the Marshals depart by the same stairs with which the party ascended, though there are still six others remaining behind the seats of the Magisters.

Shafemarron continues, "You are correct in assertion that the collars are no reward. Those collars are specifically designed to mark the identity of special criminals, as incarcerating people is expensive and a waste of space. As I am sure that you truly are already aware, they will indeed kill the wearer if an attempt is made to remove them. The citizenry has taken to calling them slavers collars, which gives them a more ominous reputation. Do you not think?"

"Nevermind. Suausedaserp, perhaps you could get something for Magister Cotone. He seems to have taken a cough. Kinamon, you should see that Xiros is taken care of, as well."

Suausedeserp, who is the younger Amiradtha, pours a cup of water from a pitcher near him and walks over to Contadino Cotone. He set the water beside the elder Ansylin. When Cotone reaches for the water, Suausedaserp clasps the back of his head with his left hand. The man shakes violently until blood and spittle froths from his mouth. He falls to the floor, dead.

As soon as Cotone hits the ground, Xiros stands and looks his direction. The other Shimadow, moves like a coiled adder, only faster. He slits the elder Shimadow's throat, deeply and deadly, wiping the blade clean on the other man's clothing just as quickly before re-securing the blade in its hidden location.

"Now, where were we? Oh, yes, the collars. Those goats were sent back out to irritate those of you in Southroad Fair. You see, I am no longer interested in trade, for you over-reaching and over-confident fools thought you could refuse to pay the piper; so, I had my blunt instrument here, Saucy..."

He pauses to laugh in a disturbing manner. "I had my blunt instrument do whatever I could imagine to goad you people. Then along came the Southroad Seekers to save the day. I could not have conceived of a better opportunity to escalate the whole situation. Yes, yes, I see the fire in all of your eyes. Be patient. There is more."

"I must say, I was a bit surprised at the demise of two of the assassins I had sent. It made me relish this conflict, even more. I was hoping that the Southroad Seekers would come try to confront us and perhaps they did, or rather you did I suspect. I want the fuel oil trade, not some of it, all of it. So here is what I propose. We are not going to kill you out right. We are going to use you as a demonstration to reinforce the fear of the people. You will be carted off to see to let the Maelstrom choose your fate. Come Seeding Season, we will then march an army to Southroad Fair and kill everyone not will to be subjugated."

"So, I hope this clarifies everything for you. I am the boss. My younger companion is my blunt instrument. You are the fools. Any questions?"

Sheldon runs his left hand through his hair, pulling it back from his face as he moves deliberately to his left, beginning to spread some distance between the seekers. Indigo follows him, instinctively, drawing her swords and manipulating Way to enhance her own strength. "I can surmise by the murder of these two Magisters that the remainder of you are in collusion, but we have not yet heard from the remaining Ansylin. Are you a pauper or a participant?"

Vadin manipulates Way to enhance his own speed. He pulls out his knives and says "These knives belonged to the assassin you sent to Southroad Fair. I graciously took them...from his corpse.."

He intends to charge the platform and attack Saucy, if he is still standing. If Tor kills him before, he will alter his course to go after Shafe. He will attack either one with his knives, going after his throat in a slashing move with one knife, and stabbing him in the area of a vital organ with the other.

Sannit intends to stay in a defensive posture in front of Bolo, being her shield so she can use her bow. To any opponent that comes into range of his spear, he intends to attack and use Slate for a Thump to knock them back. If multiple opponents come at him he will strike at one and use the Slate to Thump the other to knock them back.

Merin prepares to manipulate Mechanical Way to push 3 of the Marshals off the roof, in order to clear a path for Tor.

As Tor begins to run forward, the muscles upon his large frame cord with the strength he intends to bring to bear. Merin delicately sweeps in right hand in a dismissive motion toward the three elite marshals charging his and Tor's position on the right of the arc of Seekers.

The lead marshal is a tall Ansylin man, a bit leaner than average. He is dressed in Acrylon armor and wields the favored lanzita in his right hand while holding a chitin buckler in his left. The marshal to his left is an Amiradthan man with dyed patterns upon his dull gray skin. He, too, is dressed in Acrylon armor but wields a wickedly designed, double-bladed, bow sword. The marshal closest to the dais is a Shimadow, his flaming red hair streaming behind him as he runs. Dressed in like Acrylon armor, he wields a punch dagger in his left and a scimitar in his right.

Day 302: San-Bolo Act

Sannit intends to stay in a defensive posture in front of Bolo, being her shield so she can use her bow. To any opponent that comes into range of his spear, he intends to attack and use Slate for a Thump to knock them back. If multiple opponents come at him he will strike at one and use the Slate to Thump the other to knock them back.

Bolo intends to stay behind Sannit and shoot her bow around him. She will target Shafemarron with her first shot and use Carbone to Heat the same Magister.

As San-Bolo begin their coordinated action, Sheldon and Indigo act as well. Provoked to violence beyond any normal capacity, Sheldon feels no need to hide the full capacity of his talent nor pull any punches. He lets loose a might way of electromagnetic discharge upon the three marshals closing on his position. With the fine hairs on her body standing on end as Sheldon draws on such power, Indigo waits near her heartmate with her blades ready should anyone survive his paranormal assault.

Molo Pesce laughs as the the scene begins to unfold. He loudly proclaims, "Ha! You are Benders."

Shafemarron was evidently not expecting such advanced talent from his chosen enemies. As Molo bellows in humor, he spins away from his set on the dais as if to run, but without completing a step in that direction he vanishes from sight before Bolo can release her arrow. His image shrinks on itself in that instant to a mere pinpoint of darkness before winking out with a audible pop. Being able to manipulate thermal Way faster than she can draw her bow, Bolo realizes that her target is no longer there.

The image of Kinamon blurs for a fraction of a second in a manner similar to that of Sheldon, but then it disappears all together.

~Run you cowards.~ Sheldon thinks as he unleashes his fury on the three Marshals.

GM: The lightning dances from one marshal to the next; but despite his ire, none of them is harmed. Evidently these particular Marshals have seen the effects of bending Way lines before, for they are not deterred by the visible electricity. Indigo slides to her left as the three near, stabbing her left sword at the central marshal while lashing a lateral slice low at the one on her right as she does. Two of the three marshals on the left side of the dais are Shimadow. The other is an Amiradtha. All wear Acrylon armor. As his lightning appears to have no effect Sheldon moves forward, beside Indigo, while he prepares to change tactics.

GM: Indigo initiates her attacks faster than any of the marshals can act. Her stabs punches through the armor of the central Shimadow doing enough damage to hurt the man. Her low swipe cuts through the armor of the Shimadow on her right, doing even more damage. Despite the effectiveness of her assault, the first Shimadow, being incredibly lucky, cuts through Indigo's vest to incapacitate her at the same time she successfully blocks the second marshal's attack.

Sheldon, having moved into the way of the Amiradtha, evidently confuses his initial assault due to the obscured appearance. The marshal's attack is easily avoided.

Day 302: Vadin Goes into Action

Vadin... intends to charge the platform and attack Saucy... going after his throat in a slashing move with one knife, and stabbing him in the area of a vital organ with the other.

Vadin begins to move forward from the center of the arc of Seekers toward the right of the platform where Suausedaserp is standing behind the fallen form of Cotone, noting that while the Magisters have not moved from their current positions, six elite Marshals are rushing toward the Seekers, three from each side of the raised platform. Vadin's armor absorbs the force of the punch but has no affect on the fall. The fall plus the counter knock the wind out of Vadin. When he lands, he is now farther from the enemy than Tor is.

Sighing at the lack of tactics, Sannit runs headlong into the fray. He intends to attack whichever Marshal makes sense for him to attack. He still intends to use the Slate to Thump one of the Marshals to knock him back.

Bolo intends to shoot at whichever Marshal she has the clearest shot for. She intends to use the Carbone to Heat Molo Pesce. She doesn't know if she will do any harm, but she's hoping to at least wipe the smug smile off his face.

Sighing at the lack of tactics, Sannit runs headlong into the fray. He intends to attack whichever Marshal makes sense for him to attack. He still intends to use the Slate to Thump one of the Marshals to knock him back.
GM: Having to change tactics and position costs Sannit time in his desire for action, but not with the ability to manipulate mechanical Way, as combat is a reflex action and the paranormal occupies the forefront of his thoughts. Sannit instantly shifts his focus of the sonic Thump to one of the marshals engaged with Sheldon and Indigo, with a mere pulse of his left fist, as he begins to charge toward the dais.

GM: Having to adjust her aim with her bow from losing her first target, causes Bolo a second's delay, but no such delay is evident in her desire to incinerate Molo Pesce, a second later sending her arrow to chase the heat.

GM: Surprised that he was affected, even for such a small amount, Molo Pesce begins walking from the dais, fully displaying his natural temperament, as Bolo's arrow sails toward him. His movement seems unnaturally fluid, his musculature cording in dense compactness.

GM: In an unbelievable display of an unknown talent, the arrow that clearly strikes Molo in the chest, bounces away, unable to penetrate his flesh. Sannit does not see the arrow fly by him but he can focus on it when it bounces off the Magisters chest. Vadin, who has just been knocked from the dais by the man, sees this as well. Sannit reaches Molo as he descends to the landing, before Vadin can act a second time. Despite having the advantage of reach using his spear, Molo shifts over to attack Sannit much faster than imaginable.
