The Cypher System Roundup – Variant Rules and Flavors

Monte Cook Games allows creators to publish their original Cypher System creations and sell them via DriveThruRPG and RPGNow through the Cypher System Creator program. Like ENWorld’s DMs Guild (D&D) and Storyteller's Vault (World of Darkness) roundups, this series looks at the Cypher System’s third party content. Among the options are Mattia Salvetti’s variant rules for the game including NPCyphers and Survival and Travel.

Kickstarting Eastern Fantasy Adventures (5e & SotDL) with Mike Myler

Mike Myler is a staple of EN Publishing, writing for EN World, editing for EN5ider, and designing on N.O.W. To add to that workload, he publishes a variety of RPG supplements, and has a Kickstarter funding a pair of eastern fantasy books for Dungeons & Dragons 5e and Shadow of the Demon Lord. Taking time from his busy schedule, Mike shared some thoughts on the Kickstarter*, the books, and how he became the first Shadow of the Demon Lord third-party licensor.

The 7th Sea Explorer's Society Roundup – The Ninth Eye and Morlduin

If you are a creator roving John Wick Presents' 7th Sea 2e then the Explorer's Society is for you. The society is an online marketplace that sells original, crowd-sourced products (as well as a group within the game). As with ENWorld’s DMs Guild (D&D) and Storyteller's Vault (World of Darkness) roundups, I’m exploring a pair of books.

Check Out the Scene at Columbus’ Origins Game Fair 2018

Held from June 13th to the 17th, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio, Origins Game Fair competes for the 4th or 5th position on the list of largest tabletop gaming conventions. It is an extravaganza taking over both the convention center and adjoining Hyatt and is too large to cover in toto. Instead, there were three moments that encapsulated my Origins experience.

Gaming at the Kids’ Table with Legendary Games’ A Feast of Flavor

Legendary Games’ ENnie Award nominated game, Legendary Beginnings: A Feast of Flavor by Rachel Ventura, is an all-ages tabletop RPG adventure waiting to be played at the kids’ gaming table. How does this 72-page, all-ages adventure – available for either 5e or Pathfinder – measure up at the adult’s table? This review examines the 5e version of the game, however, it is also available for Pathfinder 1e as well.

RPG Jobs Roundup: Bloat Games, Happy Gnome Publishing, Ginger Goat Press

For many gamers, the dream is to play great games. Within that group, there’s a subset that dreams of making great games, being paid to create content for tabletop RPGs. For them, bringing joy to gamers while covering their bills is the goal. For any gamer looking to make the jump (and even those that already have), finding jobs can be a challenge. To that end, we’re curating a list of some of the gaming companies that are looking for freelancers and permanent employees to create content, fiction, and art.

Check Out the Scene at Atlanta’s MomoCon 2018

Atlanta, Georgia’s MomoCon 2018 ran from May 24th to 27th and welcomed “over 35,400 unique attendees”. The convention is a mash-up of cosplay, anime/manga, gaming, and comics in roughly that order of focus.

Introducing "Sengoku Punk" by Warsong 2E

Warsong 2e by Ray Machuga of Higher Grounds Publishing leads off with a freshly minted term, “Sengoku Punk." What is Sengoku Punk?

The 7th Sea Explorer's Society Roundup

John Wick Presents' 7th Sea 2e offers a marketplace to sell original, crowd-sourced products called the Explorer's Society. Each month, I review some of the best pieces just as EN World does for the DMs Guild (D&D) as well as Storyteller's Vault (World of Darkness).

The Cypher System Roundup

Monte Cook Games has a license to create original content for their in-house tabletop system dubbed the Cypher System Creator program. This option augments their offerings by allowing crowd-sourced adventures and supplements. Are you looking for a solid set of Cypher System adventures?

Gaming at the Kids' Table with Playground Adventures' A Friend In Need

Here at EN World, I'm looking at all-ages tabletop role-playing games, board games, and card games. Do they engage the players at the kids' gaming table? Would they cut it at the adults' table? Are they genuinely fun for every age? A Friend In Need by Jenny Jarzabski from Playground Adventures is a 26-page "stand-alone mini-adventure for […] 1st level characters. Recommended for ages six and up, this module includes adventure content as well as advice for gaming with children." While this review covers the Pathfinder version of the adventure, there is also a 5e version available.

A Full-Time Game Of Part-Time Gods

I reviewed Eloy Lasanta of Third Eye Games' Pip System Corebook on EN World, interviewed him about his AMP Year Four Kickstarter, and talked about my brief run-in with him at AndoCon. Every Third Eye game I've tried has improved my gaming table. With that in mind, when he sent the quickstart for his latest project and Kickstarter, Part-Time Gods 2nd Edition, I knew I wanted to try it out.

The 7th Sea Explorer's Society Roundup

Welcome to the 7th Sea Explorer's Society Roundup! Created from the final stretch goal of John Wick Presents' 7th Sea 2e Kickstarter campaign, the Explorer's Society is an option to distribute and/or sell official 7th Sea crowd-sourced content. Setup within DriveThruRPG and RPGNow, the model is similar to the DMsGuild (Dungeons & Dragons) and the Storyteller's Vault (World of Darkness) in that individual creators can share their 7th Sea 2E content as long as it conforms to the content guidelines for the Explorer's Society, which can be found here.

Gaming At The Kids' Table With Tiny Dungeons

Here at EN World, I'm looking at all-ages tabletop role-playing games, board games, and card games. Do they engage the players at the kids' gaming table? Would they cut it at the adults' table? Are they genuinely fun for every age? Tiny Dungeon: Second Edition from Gallant Knight Games "is the newest iteration of the minimalist fantasy roleplaying game!" While this is a minimalist system, the book is not as it rings in at 209 pages of rules, monsters, microsettings, and GM tips.

The Cypher System Roundup After The Apocalypse

Welcome to the Cypher System Creator Roundup! Unlocked during Monte Cook Games’ Worlds of the Cypher System Kickstarter campaign, the Cypher System Creator program is an option to distribute and/or sell official Cypher System crowd-sourced content. Setup within DriveThruRPG and RPGNow, the model is similar to the Storyteller’s Vault (World of Darkness), and the Explorer’s Society (7th Sea) in that individual creators can share their Cypher System content as long as it conforms to the content guidelines for the program, which can be found here.

Check Out The Scene At Atlanta's AndoCon

EN World's Christopher Helton talked about the need for more local tabletop gaming conventions and, to that end, I attended AndoCon (March 9th to 11th, 2018) in Peachtree Corners, Georgia (Greater Atlanta). This was an intimate tabletop gaming convention anchored by Ando Poore and housed in a Marriott. Born of Ando's love of gaming and community, the 2018 edition was funded via Kickstarter and managed a nice guest list despite being the same weekend as Gary Con X. Creators Sean Patrick Fannon, Eddy Webb, Eloy Lasanta, Jason Stone, Craig Campbell, and more attended to debut a variety of games as well as to game.
