Karl places one foot firmly on the head of the fallen goblin and bends over to wrench his dart from the creature's throat. He wipes it off on the goblin and tucks it away again as he turns to follow the others deeper into the kobold lair.

Kiaphas Liadon Elven Cleric of Corellon Larethian

EARLIER:

CanadienneBacon said:
His sling drawn and nocked with a lead lump of a bullet, Korgrave slinks up behind Rogue and waits at the open doorway while shooting a surly remark at the party. "Total bunk, getting caught up in this. Think they'll come back, Kiaphas?"

Kiaphus nods. "I think it's a distinct possibility."

PRESENT:

Kiaphus follows after the others, wondering what will happen next.

Meepo eagerly leads the companions away from the door through which the goblins came. Taking the open hallway to the west, Meepo (still tied to Grotzkoshter's waist via a rope) patters on bare feet down the stone hall.

Deterioration and decay thrive here as everywhere; however, a double row of relief-carved marble columns march the length of the hall. The worn carvings depict entwining dragons. Three small horned humanoids akin to Meepo but armed similarly to the bounders in the previous room patrol the area. When the party is spotted, all three bounders hide behind columns and one of them calls out a challenge. Meepo trills a reply then answers in kind:

[sblock=Draconic] Elyan hears one of the bounders challenge, "Gobbo, gobbo where are you?" The bounder's challenge is answered by Meepo who first trills a birdlike call then replies in draconic, "Stew pot empty, me so blue." [/sblock]

At Meepo's reply, the three bounders step out from behind their columns and dart forward, their fear gone. The bounders snuffle at Meepo and the four kobolds quickly engage in congratulatory banter. There is much back-slapping, guffawing, and quick-tongued yapping loudly exchanged between the four. Meepo, thoroughly engaged by his kobold friends, appears to momentarily forget Grotz, Karl, Kiaphas, Korgrave, and Elyan.

[sblock=Elyan] "You bring big shinies, eh?" "Yusadrayl look for you." "Mebbe clan eat Stindrix stew now!" "You brave, bring bigguns here." "Meepo gonna get wife now!" [/sblock]

Karl rolls his eyes at the koboldian antics and folds his arms across his chest as he scowls at Meepo and the other creatures. Did nobody here speak a civilized tongue? He leans up against a pillar and pulls his cloak and hat in tight around him as if settling down for a nap while standing up. However, his eyes still peer out from under his hat, gazing down the corridor, back where they came, watching for goblin pursuit.

Kiaphas Liadon Elven Cleric of Corellon Larethian

The elven cleric turns to Elyan with a questioning look. But then he remembers that the man is blind and decides it would best to voice his question. "What are they saying, Elyan?"

Elyan starts to paraphrase, then shrugs and reproduces the kobolds' speech word for yap.

"You bring big shinies, eh?" "Yusadrayl look for you." "Mebbe clan eat Stindrix stew now!" "You brave, bring bigguns here." "Meepo gonna get wife now!"

Grotzkoshter

Their tongue is obscure and weird as their features, and I thought dwarves are weird.
Grotzkoshter replies to no one in particular
Move along.
The big half-Orc shouts in Orcish to the lizard, not caring to the fact that the kobolds don't understand him, he glance with intimidating look at the other lizards and snarls as he push Meepo forward.

At Grotz's snarl, the three kobold bounders dart backward away from Meepo. The tips of their spears pointed at Grotz, the kobold in the least shabby leather helmet yaps something at Meepo.

[sblock=Draconic]"Biggun mean! What he want, talk nice Yusadrayl? Yusadrayl no gonna like mean talk. Dey wit you. We take anyway. C'mon."[/sblock]

The little kobold lowers the tip of his spear at length and motions for everyone to follow. After moving a mere ten feet forward, Grotz, Karl, and Korgrave realize they can see all the way down the length of the long pillared hall. One of the smaller kobolds of the three bounders darts forward and runs the length of the hall, where it can be seen talking with another kobold and pointing at the rapidly approaching party.

A short throne of sorts stands near the pillared hall's far wall. Constructed of fallen bits of masonry stacked against an old altar, the throne is certainly nothing enviable. A small horned kobold clothed in robes dyed red sits on the throne with a force of six bounders to guard her. The altar's top contains a variety of small items, while the portion of the altar that serves as the throne's back features a carving of a rearing dragon. A metallic key is held firmly in the rearing dragon's open mouth.

As the companions, escorted by Meepo and the two remaining bounders, draws nigh, the red-clad kobold on the throne rises. Somewhat uncertainly, the kobold speaks in common. "Yous bigguns, why you come Yusadrayl's halls?" The six bounders at the base of the throne cluster in a protective knot around Yusadrayl, their spears at the ready.
