CB's The Sunless Citadel v3.5

"You're a priestess?" Kiaphas stares at Kaeleen in disbelief. "Then for certain, my prayers have been answered. Something weighs on my heart and I have prayed for days now to Corellon to shed an answer. Finding you here is no accident; with you here, Corellon has freed me to attend to the desire of my heart. You are a sign."

Kiaphas turns to Korgrave. "If Kaeleen is willing to go on with Elyan, Karl and Grotzkoshter, then I shall go with you back to the kobold chieftess. After that, I plan to head back to talk to the sheriff in Oakhurst. With the goblins raiding, I'd rather not travel alone. If you are willing, we could travel together." Kiaphas turns to Kaeleen and casts an appraising look at her. "We have been looking for a pair of missing youth from a nearby town. It may be that the pair was nabbed in the night--not unlike you. I can see no injury on you, other than what hurts might lie in the secret of your heart. Do you feel whole enough to escort these three further into the dungeon in my place?"

Kaeleen : Elven Cleric of Corellon Larethian

Kaeleen looks at what she has with her. The goblins left her with her clothes, armor, and holy symbol. "Yes. I can do that. I feel fine, now. I must find out what has happened to Gaeleen and Caleb at any rate. The goblins still have my weapons and shield, and I would like to get those back too." She turns to the others. "My weapons and shield are in the goblins' main lair. Although I do not know where it is exactly, I believe I have some ideas. They always kept me blindfolded when they moved me."

Karl cocks an eyebrow at Kiaphas's implication that they were being 'escorted' by the cleric, but in the end he decides not to comment. He shakes his head slightly at the elf and the druid both leaving, it seems that few have the stomach to push on to see this journey through to its end. Still at least some still stand with him. He nods briefly to Kaeleen, his only gesture of welcome, and then slaps Grotz on the shoulder, pointing him back up the sides of the pit.

"Back to it."

He then resumes his original plan, climbing up the far side of the pit with the rope to aid those who have to follow.

"Good, it is settled, then." Korgrave nods at Kiaphas and, bowing to Kaeleen, Elyan, Grotzkoshter, and Karl, take their leave back into the pillared hall. Korgrave can be heard addressing the bounders, "We want to see your chieftess...take us to Yusadrayl."

Karl scrabbles out of the pit and stands on the other side.

Kaeleen : Elven Cleric of Corellon Larethian

As Korgrave and Kiaphas leave, with them goes the only light source. But Kaeleen has already had to do without light for some time now, so she just starts feeling her way after the others. "Although I cannot see in the dark, I can manage."

Elyan draws the dagger at his belt and holds it out hilt first to Kaeleen, saying, "Here, Lady. I will keep the longer blade but this at least means that you will not be defenseless until we can recover your own weapons."

Karl and Grotz watch as Kaeleen delicately picks her way across the narrow ledge spanning the side of the pit trap in the dark. The elf maid is across in a flash and never once loses her balance.

Grotzkoshter

I can lend you my spear woman.
Grotzkoshter says as he helps the others to climb up the pit.
We need a light source if we want your maximum help, Elyan, ask my lizard where we can find a torch for the lady.

Karl nods a greeting to the elf woman as she joins him on the far side of the pit. A futile gesture in the darkness, to be sure. He shrugs to himself, lacking any better options. He gazes across the pit to Elyan and Rogue, gesturing for Grotz to finish assisting them.

Grotzkoshter holds the rope while Elyan crosses. Rogue initially has no intention of setting foot on the narrow catwalk and stops short of the ledge, but comes when the ruff of his neck is grasped by Elyan. Though blind, Elyan is far more used to crossing unfamiliar territory in the dark than are any of the others. He falters once on the narrow stone catwalk but recovers his balance in time to make it across none the worse for the wear. Rogue tries to dart back the other way when Elyan lets go to recover his balance but Grotz heads the dog off before it can leave the catwalk and Rogue sullenly turns and pads after his master.

With Karl holding the rope from the far side, Grotz gets an assist in climbing down into the pit and then back out. Everyone safely on the other side, the door at the end of the hall beckons.
