Standing beside the goblins, Grotz swings his axe and tries to chop down limbs.
Greataxe [1d20+10(+1 bless +2 charge included), 1d12+5, crit x3, 12 lb, two-handed, slashing], Cleave.

Drawing his rapier and allowing Rogue up front, Elyan hisses at Meepo to wait, then forays forward to join the fight. Karl steps over the freshly slaughtered goblin corpse and swings at the third goblin. The floor is slick enough with goblin entrails and blood that Karl slips and misses. The three remaining goblins scrabble madly backward away from Karl and Grotzkoshter. When the goblins try to stand up, both Karl and Grotzkoshter react and in an instant two more lifeless goblins hit the floor around the fire pit. Karl slices one for 7 points of damage, while Grotzkoshter's axe knifes through the other for another 7 points of damage.
Grotzkoshter, having charged and killed the one goblin, moves inward a bit more and eagerly slices through the last remaining goblin for 16 points of damage. The creature slumps, dead, against the half-wall, its lifeblood coursing out of a gash in its stomach that has nearly rent the creature in two. With no more goblins or other foes in sight, Grotz stays his axe.
[sblock=OOC]Since Tailspinner kindly provided an SRD reference allowing Grotz to get his charge attack from last round, I've gone ahead and given Grotz that charge, plus the attack of opportunity from this round. Goblins are therefore all gone before Kaeleen's turn.[/sblock]

Kaeleen closes the door behind her and then moves toward the others. She raises the torch before her to better see her surroundings. "Where to now?"

Hearing the door close, Elyan turns and says, "Uh, Kaeleen, would you be so kind as to open the door again and ask Meepo to come in. I'm afraid I brushed him out of the way earlier."
Then, turning to the big fighter, he says, "Grotz, it won't do to keep throwing Meepo into battle. He is not a fighter and you're just going to get him killed. He's more valuable to us as a source of information than as dead meat. And while the kobold chieftain may not hold him in high regard, nevertheless it can't hurt to keep him alive for our return to the clan. Besides, he's the only one who knows anything about the dragon we're meant to be retrieving."
"And is anybody else uncomfortable with that thought? Why are we off to retrieve a dragon, anyway? And what do we do if the dragon says no?"

After Elyan has described the situation, Kaeleen's mood changes. "How did they get a dragon? Well, if they had it, it can't be very large then. Probably just a baby. But how did they get it? No need to worry about that now." She turns to Karl. "Where to now? Hopefully we can find my equipment soon."

Rogue's ears prick and he strains at Elyan's hold on the ruff of his neck. In the dim light shed by the last embers of the goblins' dying fire, everyone belatedly spies two sets of yellow goblin eyes blinking at them from the southern end of the room on the other side of the half-wall just as a javelin comes screeching out of the dark and hits Elyan square in the shoulder for 4 points of damage. Meepo's eyes go wide with fear and the kobold shrinks down to take cover behind the Grotz.
