CB's The Sunless Citadel v3.5

As Kaeleen douses Meepo with more healing, the kobold wakes and immediately begins to shiver to ward off a chill. Gazing raggedly around the group and fixing his attention on Elyan, the frail kobold teeth-chatteringly yips in halting draconic.

Kaeleen : Female Elf Cleric of Corellon Larethian 2

Now that she has had a chance to prepare her spells again, Kaeleen has everyone lay out the items once more so that she can cast a spell on them. Then she casts detect magic to see what, if any of the items, are magical.

Grotzkoshter opens the southern-facing door and peeks into the room with the goblin fire pit and the crenellated half-wall. The goblins ringing the fire pit that had only yesterday been slain are no longer there; bloody drag marks heading west through the open door containing the many crates and barrells attest to someone having moved the dead creatures. Whether the movers be rats bent on feasting, or someone else, Grotz is unable to tell.

Grotzkoshter

Blood marks, could be gobbos dragging gobbos bodies or other rats dragging gobbos food, Let's move, it is not safe here.
With that Grotz directs the other to the opposite door

While Grotzkoshter peers outside the hallway door, Kaeleen busies herself detecting potential magical auras from the collection of items. For starters, all the strange coins with one side blank, whether they be pennies or marks, glow with a faint divine transmutation aura.

From Yusadrayl, the small glass flask with the dark-hued liquid that Kaeleen earlier judged to be a potion of invisibility does, indeed, glow with a faint arcane aura of some sort, though of indeterminate school. The eagle feather given by Yusadrayl has a moderate arcane aura of the conjuration school. The first and third scroll tubes given by Yusadrayl both glow with one arcane aura each of indeterminate school. The second scroll tube given by Yusadrayl glows with one arcane aura of the divination school.

The plain gold ring with the Hucrele family crest engraved on it has one faint divine aura of abjuration.

From Calcryx's geldbed, the two clear blue potions that smell of almonds both have one faint aura, both of them of the divine conjuration school. The large lightweight pouch fashioned of soft grey leather has a faint divine aura of conjuration.

From the lair of the dire rats most recently slain, the small round disc of polished blue glass with a stylized wave hanging from a black cord has a magical aura, arcane in nature, of indeterminate school. The silvered dagger with a lapis lazuli inset in the pommel that matches the stylized glass amulet has no aura at all, and neither do the plain rapier nor the hand axe.

Responding to Elyan, Meepo sits bolt upright then abruptly stands. A few hoarse yips squeak from the kobold.

[sblock=Draconic]"Dragon dead, ayup. Meepo go clan, Meepo dead then. Meepo stay yous Big Shinies, fight like big one there."[/sblock]

The kobold points at Grotzkoshter then crosses its arms firmly about its chest and stands adamant.

Karl winces slightly at the high pitched exciteable yipping coming from the kobold and moves away from Elyan and his 'friend' to go look around with Grotz. He nods at the warrior's assessment, they've been stagnant too long. The rats may not be much threat, but their presence could alert larger predators. He moves to investigate the doorway indicated, waiting to open it until everyone is ready, but performing his standard operations, listening at the door, checking for traps and unlocking it if needed.

"Keep moving."

Karl turns to Grotz. Prepared to carefully search and unlock the southern-facing door if necessary, Karl finds that Grotz already has the door wide open and that the squat half-orc has already wantonly poked his head out into the room with the fire pit and dead goblins just a second earlier. A quick nod from Grotzkoshter confirms to Karl that no visible foes lurk nearby and that the way is safe enough.

Meepo heads over to the pile and slyly looks at the plain rapier. The weapon is large for the small kobold, but he grabs it nonetheless and hefts it in two hands, then wildly thrashes the air with the pointy tip. Though it is plain to the observer that the kobold has no inkling of how to best heft the blade or wield it, Meepo nonetheless grunts in supreme satsifaction, his eyes glittering with confidence and fire. His prize secure, Meepo darts across the rat room into the hall to stand directly behind Grotzkoshter.

You guys can cross the crenellated half-wall and head east, or you can go back through the storeroom with the crates and barrells, heading west toward one of the large and long pillared halls. Which way?
