CB's The Sunless Citadel v3.5

Karl scratches idly at his chin. He looks around at the large assortment of equipment that has been gathered, considering the effort involved in carrying it around. He starts piling it together in a corner, after sweeping the floor as clear of debris as he can with his boot.

"Save it for later."

Then he draws his blade once more and moves quietly down the long hallway, gesturing behind him for the others to follow.

Several torches mounted in crude wall sconces burn fitfully in this pillared hall, filling the air with a haze that blurs sight. A double row of marble columns carved with entwining dragons marches the length of the hall. Elyan feels Rogue stiffen and strain to the left.

[sblock=Kaeleen]Kaeleen enters the room. From where she stands, she hears the low burble of many gutteral voices coming from behind the set of closed double doors to her left.[/sblock]

Kaeleen : Elven Cleric of Corellon Larethian

Kaeleen places a finger to her lips while using her other hand to point at the set of double doors to the left as they enter the hall. She gets close to Karl's ear and whispers. "Many voices there."

Karl nods at Kaeleen's comment, scratching his chin idly as he considers his options. Best to go with the devil you know, he supposed. He creeps over to the door where the elf woman heard voices and tries to determine what lies on the other side.

Karl steps quietly to the double doors. Figuring to press his ear to the doors to listen, the half-orc finds that as soon as he steps within ten feet of the dual portals, he has no need to step closer. The low rumblings of many gutteral voices projects from somewhere beyond the pair of closed doors. By the sound of things, most of the voices belong to goblins, but several other louder and more austerely baritone monstrous voices are thrown into the mix.

Karl listens for a moment. Logic would dictate moving away from the horde of monsters lurking behind that door. But without knowing what lay beyond the other doors . . . a startled sentry or noise of a battle could quickly bring the whole passel down on their backs, with nowhere to run. He gestures to the others and draws them away from the door before leaning his head in close to whisper.

"Goblins. . . and something bigger. Several."

Kaeleen : Elven Cleric of Corellon Larethian

Kaeleen whispers her reply. "Should we try a full front attack or try to lay a trap and bring them to us some way?"

Meepo tugs at Elyan. The kobold starts barking quite animatedly and points at the double doors to the left, his nose working overtime.

[sblock=Draconic] "Big gobbos in there. Youses smell? BIG! Man stink heavy!" [/sblock]
