Grotzkoshter

Swallowing his scream, Grotz's face twist in pain, he let's out a faint call.
You white bustard lizard!
He raises his axe again, this time, inspired with Elyan's battle song. He lowers it on the wyrm's head.

[sblock=Elyan]Replying to your question re: can a bard maintain Inspire Courage in subsequent rounds and still attack, my reply is yes he can attack while using Inspire Courage. Some of the bardic music effects like fascinate or countersong seem to imply that the bard maintain concentration (and thus must spend a standard action per round to maintain), but my take is that Inspire Courage is one of the few abilities that doesn't take concentration to maintain. Plus, Inspire Courage does last 5 rounds after the bard stops singing. If you know of errata or a rules clarification that says the bard must maintain concentration to use Inspire Courage, I'd be interested to see it, but it still wouldn't effect my decision above. Elyan can attack and maintain this particular ability.[/sblock]

Elyan launches into a strident song of fire and flame meant to bolster his allies' courage. Drawn of the arcane, the song is powerful and fills the trophy room with its fiery embrace, quelling some of Calcryx's ice and cold. The bard otherwise stands his ground where he is while continuing to sing for the moment.

Taking a five foot step backward away from the dragon so as not to draw the beast's ire, Kaeleen intones words of power over her dagger. Coupled with two deft hand motions that draw an invisible sigil in the air an inch above the dagger's blade, Kaeleen's spell forms and settles into the weapon, which thereupon shines with a holy aura. Her backward movement costs Karl the opportunity to flank Calcryx, but removes the risk that her spellcasting would attract the fledgling dragon's vile attention.

Karl, not best pleased that his tactical advantage flew south, grimaces as Kaeleen moves away but presses his attack. Karl's aim is no truer than before; his attack swings wide and misses.

Grotzkoshter is driven into a fury of whirling flesh and steel by Elyan's song. Swinging his great axe in an arc of death, the half-orc crashes the mighty axe into Calcryx's skull for 17 points of damage. Bone is laid bare beneath the small dragon's hide and Calcryx screeches in pain and rage, but nevertheless refuses to falter. The dragon inhales a deep breath and emits a frosty cone of ice and winter white hoar that settles like a chill mantle into the very bones of Grotzkoshter, Meepo, and Elyan. Grotzkoshter and Meepo take the worst of things, each suffering 5 points of damage. Elyan, however, hears the dragon rumbling and dodges aside and takes 2 points of damage. Meepo, who earlier had benefitted from Kaeleen's healing touch, had been laying on the stone floor, is now covered in frost so thick that his limbs are encased in ice covered by a layer of white hoar. The temperature in the trophy room likewise drops another 10 degrees.

Elyan continues his song, weaving in more metaphors of flame and conflagration. "With a bit of luck," he thinks, "someone may get the hint."

Then he steps into the room and, guided by the ever-faithful Rogue, lunges in an attack at their cold-hearted enemy.

Grotzkoshter

Turning to the left, hoping to get into a flanking position with Karl Grotz calls for the priestess. (5 ft. left)
Kaeleen, Heal my wounds!
he then swings his axe, trying to tear skin and crush the wing's bones. (Power Attack)

Don't forget my Diehard feat.

Kaeleen : Elven Cleric of Corellon Larethian

Kaeleen steps back forward and swings her dagger at the small dragon. "I am sorry Grotz, I have no more healing power until I get a chance to rest."

Elyan wades into the fray. Rogue, finding no where to edge in and somewhat fearful of the wrath and snapping jaws of a dragon, remains behind his master for the moment. Still singing his battle hymn of fire and flame, Elyan ripostes and lunges at Calcryx, pricking his rapier in the dragon's neck for 4 points of damage.

Kaeleen steps forward to flank the dragon with Karl and, the blade of her dagger shining with Corellon's wrath, impales the weapon into Calcryx's haunch for 6 points of damage. The dragon whips its head to the side, its black eyes narrowing at Kaeleen and Elyan with venom.

Karl, sickened at his two previous misses, screams in rage at Calcryx and aims a death blow at the dragon. The blade of Karl's short sword shrieks through the cold air of the room and lands on the beast's white neck, lopping off the creature's head in one neat slice that deals a whopping 17 points of damage.

Even laying on the ice-covered floor and separated from his body, Calcryx's eyes blink twice at Kaeleen and Elyan and the dragon huffs one last nostril of cold hoar before ceasing to move. A pool of black blood courses from the dead dragon's neck, the hot wet liquid steaming in the frigid air of the room.

End of initiative, please post at will.

Elyan stands, held in the moment. He moves his blade from side to side, his head cocked to hear the next tell-tale of battle, his body still caught up in the imperatives of adrenaline and magic. Finally, he drops both blade and song.

He gathers up Rogue, gently pulling the dog's long, silky ears, and says, "It's all right, boy. We're fine. Now, take me to Meepo. Rogue, guide."

Moving to the little kobold's side, he gasps in dismay at the deadly ice covering his companion. As he scrabbles to prise him from the floor, Elyan calls out to Kaeleen, saying, "Help me to free him. Bring your torch - we must melt this ice."

Grotzkoshter

Wounded Grotz lowers his axe and cuts all the dragon's talons. It would serve as a good necklace, turning to the others he say.
We should bring the prize back to the lizards and ask them for a place to sleep as well. I must attend my wounds.
he then takes the dragon's body and carry it on his shoulder.

Kaeleen : Female Elf Cleric of Corellon Larethian 2

Kaleen moves to Meepo's side and tries to render what aid she can. She turns to Elyan as she speaks. "How is he?"
