CB's The Sunless Citadel v3.5

Rogue's claws clack across the room's patches of ice as he guides Elyan to Meepo's position back by the door. Quite by miracle, Kaeleen's torch hasn't guttered, even after the short but rigorous battle. Using the torch, their bare hands, and Kaeleen's dagger to melt, chip, and otherwise chink away at the layer of ice covering Meepo, Elyan and Kaeleen crouch by the kobold's neck, looking for signs of life.

[sblock=Kaeleen]Meepo is only mostly dead. By the time the ice is removed enough to take a pulse, he's at -8 hp.[/sblock]

Kaeleen finds enough evidence that the kobold yet lives to firm her resolve. Working furiously with Elyan to prize Meepo from the floor, the elf woman grabs the kobold and hugs him close, using the warmth of her own body to warm and stabilize him.

Roll high when you gotta...a natural 20 usually helps things along a good bit for a skill check. :) Sorry for the imagery, though, Tailspinner. Since Meepo lacks any "wounds" other than frostbite from the cone of cold, I couldn't think how else to describe Kaeleen's heroism.

Grotzkoshter harvests the dragon's talons, and Karl picks up the entire carcass, head and all, after Grotz is done. With a shrug and a grimace at Elyan and Kaeleen working to save the kobold, Karl points the tip of his short sword and says, "The hallway just there by the door would be an okay place to sleep. I can see if I can get the trap going again--that'd make sure that anyone entering from that side wouldn't easily get to us. We can barricade and guard the other doors."

Kaeleen : Female Elf Cleric of Corellon Larethian 2

As she holds the kobold's body close to her's she glances at the spot the the dragon talked of beneath the table. As she speaks she motions in that dirrection with her head."Karl, don't forget the dragons hoard, as meager as it might be."

Karl nods and, putting down the carcass, gets his lanky length down on hands and knees to look under the table. The ice on the floor is frigid and Karl huffs on his bare hands several times to warm them before coming up with the meager pile of loot hoarded by the small dragon for its geldbed.

Karl finds: a dragon-shaped figurine carved of jade, a crystal goblet, twenty-four silver spoons, a sealed scroll case crafted of bone with some sort of inscription on the outside, two clear blue potions, and a large lightweight pouch fashioned of soft grey leather. After stuffing all the findings into his own pack in a hasty manner, Karl gets back up off the floor and again hefts Calcryx's carcass on his shoulder with a grunt at the added weight. "Ready."

Karl sets about carrying the items from Calcryx's geldbed, along with the actual corpse itself, back into the wide hall containing the pit trap. After everyone is across the trap, Karl shuts the door to the trophy room and takes his time dislodging the wedges he'd stuck in the trap door's seams, then stands back with a grunt. "Right. It's armed, so be careful." With that, the half-orc sits down on the floor near the trap and folds his arm, his short sword laying across his lap within easy reach. Within a minute, Karl is soundly asleep.

Grotzkoshter

Putting the basket, Grotz begin to clean his weapon and attend his wounds.
You should rest
He says to the priestess and the bard.
I'll take the first watch and wake you later.

ooc: where is Hafrogman, quited?

Karl rubs his hands together for a while, trying to get some warmth back into them after carrying the dragon and its hoard. He sticks them under his arms and sinks back deeper into his cloak as he watches the others and rests in silence.

He considers the sword on his lap for a moment as he dozes. He murmers quietly to himself.

"Karl Rikken. . . dragon slayer."

And there is a small grin on his mouth as he fades into darkness.

[sblock=ooc]No, Strahd, I didn't quit. I've just been very busy recently. CB was kindly covering for me. But I should be back now, sorry for any inconveniences.[/sblock]

That would be most awesome if you are back in full, hafrogman. Watch order: Grotzkoshter, Elyan, Karl, Kaeleen.

The first hour of Kaeleen's watch, her morning meditation is interrupted by snuffling and scrabbling sounds from behind the north door in the hallway where everyone is camped. A loud scrape echoes that sounds like a metal pot being drug across a stone floor. Despite the clamor, neither Grotz, Elyan nor Karl wake.

Kaeleen gets up from her trance and presses an ear to the door. The noise confirmed, Kaeleen quietly wakes the others. Shaking her head and silently motioning to the door, Kaeleen gestures to indicate that something is behind it.
