CB's The Sunless Citadel v3.5

Korgave frowns at the strange traces, shrugs, and stands back up. He looks at the writings on the wall again, and shrugs at those as well.

He looks over at the small at the small commotion where Grotz, Karl and Elyan are being barked at, shrugs again, and gazes around the room.

Korgrave nods at Grotz's command, then walks over to the half-burned torch, picks it up, and presses it into the unseeing Kiapha's hand. "This might be useful," he offers.

After Kiaphas accepts or rejects the torch, Korgrave turns back and watches the main group deal with the strange barking.

[sblock=Draconic]"Eat you?" growls Elyan in Draconic. "Why, are you tasty?"

"No, no, little one, we will not eat you. There would not be enough for more than a morsel ... and your knowledge will be of more value to us than your liver."[/sblock]Turning to the others, he says, "His name is Meepo, and he hopes we will not eat him. I told him we wouldn't. Of course, if the rest of you are hungry ..."

He grins and turns again to their captive.

[sblock=Draconic]"Meepo, what can you tell us of this place? Are there more of your people here? What was in the cage? Why were you weeping when we arrived?"[/sblock]

Kiaphas Liadon Elven Cleric of Corellon Larethian

Kiaphas takes the offered torch and then begins searching through his pack for his flint and steel. Once he finds the items, he goes about trying to light the torch.

The half-burnt torch takes a try or two before what little of the grease left on the blades of thick oil-slick straw catch fire. Once lit, however, Kiaphas finds the torch gives ample light.

Seeing that no one produces a length of rope, Grotz continues to hold the small creature fast. Little force is needed however, once Elyan starts conversing with the thing in that strange yapping tongue. The creature seems intent on winning over the bard.

Continuing on in Draconic, Meepo visibly winces once during the dialogue, primarily when Elyan mentions liver. The wince is followed by more groveling at Grotz's feet, making the height differential between the small creature and Grotz awkward. "Meepo trouble. The clan's dragon...loose our dragon. Wretched goblins steal Calcryx, our dragon! Nasty, wretched goblins." Obviously upset, Meepo trails off into more whimpering. In a fit of drama, the petite creature flings itself at Grotzkoshter's feet fully onto the flagstone floor of the chamber. "Meepo lose dragon. Kill Meepo now, he make fine meal! No worry if in belly!"

Karl looks on as the creature babbles on meaninglessly in its strange tongue. He stands aloof as the bard attempts to reason with the beast, content to simply stay put. But when the bound creature is still so viscious as to attempt to bite Grotz's ankles off, Karl stands stunned at it's audacity. He strides over and hauls the creature up off the ground by it's bindings. He holds it at eye level, over six feet up, and pokes at it with one long finger.

"What IS it?"

"Apparently the tribe have lost their dragon. Yes, that's definitely what the creature said - their dragon. And he, Meepo, lost it. The goblins stole it. So now he's afraid that he'll be blamed. No doubt he's right."

Addressing Meepo, Elyan asks,
[sblock=Draconic]"What dragon? What sort of dragon? How big? How could goblins steal your dragon?"[/sblock]

Karl picks up the sniveling creature and holds it in the air, revealing a network of cagey scars across the small beast's soft inner flesh that resemble scratch marks. The creature immediately goes limp with fear in Karl's grasp. With eyes that bulge from scaly eyesockets, the small thing whimpers and casts a pitiful look in Elyan's direction. "Lovie, nice lovie dragon. That his home." Meepo risks a gesture and points at the cage. "Meepo don't know how nasty goblinses steal Calcryx, but leader know." A light of hope comes to the creature's eyes. "Meepo take you meet leader, Yusadrayl? You make nice, grant you safe passage, you no hurt Meepo? Mebbe you rescue dragon, leader make nice to you, answer your want to know."

Korgrave frowns and nods gravely at Elyan's translations.

He looks over at the cage. "How would goblinsssss make a hole that big," he wonders at noone in particular, "and how would goblinsssss ssubdue a dragon... or thissssss little one, for that matter? Are we sssssure he sssspeaksss the truth... at all?" Korgrave shakes his head at the thought.

As Elyan goes back to speaking in the barking-tongue, Korgrave scratches his head and runs an eye along the bench and the objects on it. Hmm... maybe... something to either prove... or disprove... this story... He sighs.

Grotz

That is a simple equation
Says Grotzkoshter, raise his eyebrow and tries to look smart
Like seven plus seven is fifteen … hmm sixteen, I meant that lying equals beating him hard, got it …
The big Half Orc warrior laugh to himself and place his hand on the poor creature's shoulder.

Karl nearly drops the creature in surprise at Elyan's translation.

"Dragon?"

Giving up on this 'Meepo' he drops the bound kobold none to gently back to the floor and begins searching around the area, examining the cage and hole.
