CB's The Sunless Citadel v3.5

Korgrave turns his attention to the items adorning the room's bench. Arranged as if an altar in miniature, upon the bench sit two clay pots with lids, a paintbrush with what appears to be goblin-hair bristles containing dried green paint, and four small jade figurines of dragons.

Karl examines the ruined cage and finds that the cage's metal bars are ruined. Without repair, the cage can no longer be made to hold a captive or captives. White scat litters the bottom of the cage.

Kiaphas Liadon Elven Cleric of Corellon Larethian

At last able to see again, Kiaphas moves around the edge of the room searching for any signs of secret or concealed doors. As he searches he querries the others. "What next?"

Meepo catches sight of the elven priest and darts behind Grotzkoshter's thick legs to hide. Sniveling, the small creature peers out from between Grotz's knees and hisses at Kiaphas in Draconic. "Nasty elvses, yes. Burn kobold colony on stake last year." The small creature addresses Elyan again, though this time with less hope than before. "You make nice with elvses? Elvses light lovers, no trust. Skewer you if not careful."

It sounds for all the world as if the small creature is barking and yipping at Kiaphas.

"Ah, Meepo, I make nice with all sorts of creatures. I hear the hidden darkness. I taste the covered light. I choose my friends ... and my enemies."

The small kobold blinks at Elyan in uncertainty. Remaining between Grotz's knees for as long as the half-orc will allow it, the creature begins to snivel yet again. Wiping a leathery claw at its nose, the kobold's luminscent yellow eyes gleam in the darkness between blinks. Still hoping for Elyan's favor, the creature croaks out, "You make nice Yusadrayl? Win dragon back, help Meepo out of stewpot? Yusadrayl answer you want to know, you make nice." The kobold involuntarily scratches at Grotz's lower right leg as it speaks and tries to win Elyan's favor.

A sudden loud clank announces that something heavy, probably made of wood, has hit the floor beyond the door of the room's northwest corner. Alarmed, Meepo jumps then quickly quiets. With a tentative look at Karl and up at Grotz, Meepo offers in a very small voice in Draconic, "Bounders stay there. Maybe drop somtin? You make nice Meepo, you no worry." The kobold cringes at the prospect of trouble and wringes its scaly clawed hands.

Karl holds up one finger to his lips, gesturing for silence. With a glare for the simpering kobold, Karl draws his blade and quietly moves towards the door, listening for more sounds from beyond.
