CB's The Sunless Citadel v3.5

"Gently, friend Grotz. They are well enough disposed towards us at the moment - and we need not borrow trouble."

Rogue leads the bard down the hallway, growling quietly at the scurrying figures he sees. As he strides down the hall, Elyan strives to recall all he has heard about kobolds.

When they arrive and Yusadrayl addresses them, he steps forward, hand on the ruff of Rogue's neck and nods in the direction of the yapping voice.

"Greetings, Yusadrayl, leader of the clan. Your power and your wisdom have come to our ears, and we have sought out your counsel and your aid. We come seeking not strife but the return of a sister and brother to their grieving and sore wounded clan. Have you seen more bigguns in recent times? They would have come in the past sevenday or so, and they may be unable to return."

"Tell us, of your wisdom, where are the children of our clan?"

Karl steps back and lets Elyan do the talking for the group. Truly, such negotiations were more the human's forte. However, he does offer a friendly smile to the new kobold. Karl's smile involves a lot of teeth and grimacing, and doesn't look nearly as inviting as he intends it to. However, he is genuinely happy to finally meet one of these beasts that speaks a sensible tongue. Grateful just to be able to follow a conversation for once, he awaits Yusadrayl's response.

Kiaphas Liadon Elven Cleric of Corellon Larethian

Kiaphas is glad they have finally found one of these beasties that can actually speak the common tongue. Seeing as Elyan seems to have the situation under control at the moment, he decides to simply watch.

Though the six kobold bounders guarding her seem nervous about Rogue, and thus cluster even more tightly in their protective knot about their leader, Yusadrayl looks well pleased by Elyan's honeyed tongue. That is, however, until the red-clad kobold leader leans in to get a better look at Elyan. Surprised, Yusadrayl leans back with a grunt. To Karl, Kiaphas, Grotz, and Korgrave, Yusadrayl says, "Blind human no-tail lead three mighties and the elfses?" Yusadrayl turns to Karl, the tallest member of the group. "You big. Why you no talk?" The kobold chieftess seems genuinely puzzled why the tallest, or at least the biggest members of the party's "clan" don't seem to be the leader.

Karl cocks one eyebrow at the kobold's question. Drawing himself up to his full height, he stands even above Grotz. He throws his cape wide and juts his chin out as he looks down the length of his nose towards Yusadrayl. He rumbles slightly in his chest and then speaks firmly in what seems his most impressive tone.

"He speaks on my authority. I delegate."

Satisfied, Yusadrayl nods. Addressing Elyan, the petite kobold replies, "Clan bounders chased two bigguns like yous from our'n nest. Yusadrayl clan crafty, spy on gobbos. Crafties see gobbo clan Durbuluk big fight yous bigguns. Bigguns fight gobbos, run away. Yusadrayl no see yous bigguns after that, crafties look but no see bigguns too. Just more gobbos, the Outcast, mebbe his pets too."

With a sharp gleam in her eye, Yusadrayl eyes Karl. "Nasty gobbos, eat Yusadrayl clan's food, take Yusadrayl clan's nests. You big shiny warriors, make nice with Yusadrayl, mebbe kill, drive away gobbos? Yusadrayl make nice you." The kobold chieftess motions, clawed palm up, to the variety of small items perched on the top of her throne as possible barter.

[sblock=OOC]Just a reminder that without aural clues, Elyan won't pick up on details like the items available for barter.[/sblock]
Irritated by the little creature's reply, Elyan draws a deep breath preparatory to tearing strips off the wretch, then stops at Karl's ready assumption of authority. With a self-deprecatory grin, the bard sets himself to listen respectfully to his 'leader', then cocks his head in anticipation of the kobold's next words.

When they come, he frowns and says, "The Outcast? Who is he? And what are his pets?"

Karl waves idly for Elyan to continue the conversations while he pretends to deeply consider the items offered for barter. Briefly he considers the fact that Elyan can't really see him wave, but the human is already speaking, so the effect is complete. He moves to stand before the group and considers Yusadrayl.

"Goblins are no friends of ours. Information is nice."

He adds special emphasis to the last word to emphasise what the kobolds have to barter with that could actually interest the big shinies.

[sblock=ooc]Well that's your fault for playing a blind man, isn't it? Bwa ha ha ha! All the trinkets shall be mine, MINE I TELL YOU!!!! *ahem*[/sblock]

Leaning in, Karl, Grotz, Korgrave, and Kiaphas see that the items Yusadrayl motions to include: three different scroll tubes, a small glass flask containing what looks to be a dark-hued liquid, and a feather.

Yusadrayl replies to Elyan in common, "Outcast? He live below, grow nasty fruitses. He feed fruitses to gobbos...sometimes gobbos eat, sometimes gobbos go up to light, sell fruitses." The kobold chieftess puffs out her petite chest. "Yusadrayl's crafties see all. Yous bigguns no make nice with Outcast, Yusadrayl guess he come down here, live in dark, live with petses, he own Chief, yes?" The kobold's eyes glitter shrewdly. "Petses, nasty. Worse than ugly gobbos. Outcast grow petses...sharp claws, brambles, small treeses." Yusadrayl starts to mimic some kind of walking monster. To the hushed and appreciative awe of her tribemates, the chieftess puts her clawed hands out in front of herself and pantomimes the "pets."

Grotzkoshter

With a mean look Grotz stands quietly, throwing intimidating glances to the kobolds around, his hand is on Meepo's shoulder.
This creature belongs to him, he is his trophy, and hopefully the red skinned lizard will give him something for the Kobold.
