CB's The Sunless Citadel v3.5

Elyan's eyelids flutter then still as the sound of Karl's rising brings him to wakefulness. He sits up, stands, goes through a complicated series of stretches and neck rolls, and finally tips his head from one side to the other, listening.

Rogue opens an eye, watching this regular routine, then closes it again, preferring to remain at rest as long as possible. It's only when Elyan searches through his pack for a piece of meat that the dog sits up, watching attentively.

"Here you are, lad. Just a mouthful. More later in the day."

"Ready?" says the bard in response to Karl's question. "Yes, as soon as I have a bath." He pats his pockets, then says, "Now where did I put that soap?"

"I swear, the first chance I get, I'm going to soak for an hour."

"Ah, well," he grins, fishing out some waybread and breaking off a piece, "let's get going."

Kiaphas Liadon Elven Cleric of Corellon Larethian

Kiaphas goes through his morning ritual of praying to Corellon Larethian for his daily spells. Then when he is done he addresses the others. "I have prayed to Corellon Larethian for favor for today's activities." Then he gets a distant look in his eye as if mulling something over. "So! Which way shall we proceed? We have a choice of directions to proceed."

0: Detect Magic, Detect Poison, Resistance
1: Magic Weapon*, Bless, Summon Monster I

Kiaphas spends fifteen minutes in prayer to his deity. Feeling well prepared for the day ahead, the priest secures his belongings along with the others.

A glimpse of the tower shell affirms that, besides the hidden door to the secret chamber in which the party slept away the remainder of yesterday and last night, the tower shell has three other doors. The door in the east wall leads back out to the courtyard with the pit trap. The door inset into the southwestern wall leads into the room with the dragon door. A third door, not yet investigated, lies along the tower shell's northwestern wall.

The bard strikes a declamatory pose: "And so, the intrepid group sought out new adventure. Would they take the wyrm's way, or tread other unknown paths to greatness?"

He then smiled, relaxed and said, "Which way do you want to go?"

Since no one has made a decision, Kiaphas pulls out a silver piece and tosses it into the air. When it lands he looks at how it fell. As he retreives it, he points to the not yet investigated door. "We go that way, then."

Electing to pass through the lone unopened door in the tower shell, Karl steps forward and gingerly fingers the northwestern door's stone lintel. Deciding that the way is safe and finding no traps or pits, Karl opens the wooden door and steps through the portal. Met with a dark hall ten feet wide and 45 feet long, Karl and the others whose vision allows them to penetrate the utter blackness that shrouds the hall quickly discern that the hall offers more choices on where to tread. Thirty feet down on the left is a stone door carved in relief with a dragonlike fish swimming in an aquatic setting. Opposite this dragonfish door is a wooden door, and at the hall's terminus is a second wooden door. None of the three doors is open. Unlike the courtyard, tower shell and secret pocket chamber where the party slept away the remainder of yesterday, the hallway looks to be in solid repair.

Karl quietly scans the hallway, treading gingerly forward. He looks with curiosity to the door on the left.

"Dragon Door. Again."

Considering it for a moment, he decides to leave it be for the moment, like the previous carved door and instead turns to the wooden door opposite, searching over it for more traps, and listening carefully for any signs of life on the other side.

Karl searches the wooden door opposite the dragonfish door. He finds no traps and, after listening intently at the door for a few seconds, decides that no sound at all comes from within whatever is beyond the door. The sound of dripping water heard during the night is, however, somewhat louder and resonates a bit harder from somewhere within the hallway itself.

Kiaphas stays close to Elyan realizing that the blind bard has a much better chance of navigating the area then he. "I have one additional sunrod, but I should probably save it for later."
