CB's The Sunless Citadel v3.5

Seeing how little effect his blade can have on those with no flesh to pierce, Karl growls a little under his breath. It's been a long day, the pit, the rat, the needle and now these skeletons are standing in his bedroom! The growl bursts forth from his throat as he loses his temper and reaches out to smash his foe with his bare hands.

Unarmed Strike +0 (-4 for dealing lethal damage, would provoke AoO, but they're cowering)

Kiaphas Liadon Elven Cleric of Corellon Larethian

Kiaphas continues to hold the skeletons at bay with his holy symbol help up. He stands his ground as he remembers not to press the those of the undeath. He remembers from his training that should he approach too close the abominations would surely turn on him. He continues to torment the creatures. "Ah! Yes! See the might of Corellon Larethian! Cower at his brilliance, denizens of evil!"

Elyan laughs again and breaks into a low chant, the words of his slaying song keeping time with the beating of his feet and the 'ting' of blade against bone. There is no magic in the music, save the magic of battle lust.

Grotzkoshter

Still rooted to the earth in panic, Grotz is ashamed when he sees his friends venture inside to fight the minions of the Dark god, he fears the reaper and he stays a couple of seconds recalculating his chances against those unrested souls, he stays alerts and ready.

In the midst of growling at the undead in the room beyond the portal blocked by Kiaphas, Rogue looks up at Grotzkoshter and breaks off growling in favor of whinnying at the normally stout-of-heart half-orc. At the ting of Elyan's blade against bone from inside the chamber, however, Rogue leaves off concern for Grotz in favor of resuming his growling.

Korgrave quickly feels for a second stone from one of several pockets. Fitting the weighty projectile into the curve of his sling, the half-orc druid squints past Kiaphas standing in the doorway through the darkness into the secret chamber. After eyeing the three skeletons, Korgrave's hand withers in place. With a disappointed grunt, Korgrave lowers his sling. "Too many ssssskeletonssssssssssss too clossssssssssssssse to friendssss."

With the skeletons still shrinking from Kiaphas's channeled holy might, Karl abruptly sheathes his short sword and, with a clenched fist, bursts out in anger to smash in the clavicle and skull of the animated bones, dealing 7 points of damage. So virulent is Karl's strike that all the bones of skeleton 1 crumple in upon themselves and fall in a clattering heap to the stone rubble at Karl's feet.

Aware that the tenor of Rogue's growl back in the Tower Shell momentarily changed, Elyan's outstretched rapier misses its mark. Instead of penetrating bone, as Elyan had intended, the rapier's fine tip pierces naught but the air between skeleton 3's ribs.

Start of Round 3:

Kiaphas Liadon Elven Cleric of Corellon Larethian

Kiaphas continues to stand his ground, although he wishes he could help the others dispatch the denizens of undeath. But he knows that his place is to keep them at bay and allow his comrads to complete the deed. Ever vigilent in his praises to his chosen deity, the elven cleric continues his mockery of the undead. "Corellon Larethian is the light that shall burn away the darkness! Die fiends!"

Find it far easier to rip these skeletons apart than to strike them with his blade, Karl continues his assault, moving on to the next skeleton.

"One."

As the blade of his rapier scrapes the ribs of the skeleton he is attacking, Elyan laughs again - this time not in triumph but in self-irony. Making a flourish, blade raised and head flung back, he says in a ringing tone, "Well done, sir - or is it madam? Forgive me - you all look alike to me!"
Then he attacks again.

Grotzkoshter

Growing over his fear, Grotz tries to venture into the room, realizing there is no space to swing his beloved axe, he pulls out his new spear and tries to destroy those minions.

Spear +6 [ dmg:1d8+5, two-handed, Piercing]

With Kiaphas still standing in the doorway holding aloft his cherished holy symbol of Corellon Larethian, Karl and Elyan press their attack against the skeleton guardians within the secret chamber. Karl, having met with substantive success using his bare fist, again swings at the animated bones. Karl lands yet another mighty blow and deals 7 points of damage to the skeleton blademaster previously hit with a stone from Korgrave's sling. As Karl's fist pummels the skeleton's skull into several broken shards of bone, skeleton 2 completely falls apart under the forceful brunt of Karl's attack. Elyan, at work with his rapier, refocuses his attention on the third skeleton. Elyan's reposte and lunge meets with success similiar to his first blow, dealing 3 points of damage to the skeleton. As the red pinpricks of unlife falter and fade from skeleton 3's eyes and the bag of bones heap upon themselves in a neat pile on the stone floor, Elyan withdraws his blade, a bit of tibula still stuck upon the rapier's sharp tip.

Grotz, having girded his courage at the last, draws his newly found spear and moves to enter the secret chamber just as the last of the three skeletal corpses are dispatched by Karl and Elyan. With everyone save for Korgrave and Rogue now in the 15-foot square chamber, things look to be a tight squeeze but manageable should the companions wish to camp here for a spell.

End of initiative. Please post at will.
