Elyan, his rapier in hand, moves five feet at a diagonal to address the first goblin. Lunging at the flabby little beast does little other than serve to provoke a cruel laugh of mirth from the nasty goblin, who rears his head and garbles something in goblin.
[sblock=Goblin] "Manflesh pokes 'is sharp stick at me, boys, an' misses! I'm thinkin' this lout's too weak fer the pot. Better ter nab the long one wit orc in 'im. Allays did like me some orc." [/sblock]
Grotzkoshter's swing with the greataxe is held in check to a small degree by the cringing Meepo whom he drags on a hemp leash tied to Grotz's waist behind him. Small as he is, Meepo strains at the rope and tries, unsuccessfully, to check Grotz's forward movement. The resistance from Meepo, however, does cause Grotz to miss the goblin, who ducks out of the way quite handily then proceeds to point a taunting finger at the hulking half-orc and kobold duo while dancing a garrish jig in the doorway.
[sblock=Goblin] "Oi, boys! Two orcses, an' the biggun cain't hit the broad side o' a wagon! We'll drink 'is blood afore we eat the long one, eh?" [/sblock]
Karl, with just a quick flick of his wrist, launches a dart that lodges itself in the finger-pointing goblin's throat with a soft squelch, dealing 5 points of damage. The goblin immediately ceases its jig and clutches at its throat with the same hand that only lately had been pointing in jest at Grotzkoshter. Thin maroon blood spills from the dart's puncture wound and quickly stains the goblin's jerkin the color of wine. The creature staggers and continues to stand, clutching at the gaping hole in its neck, in the doorway.
Kiaphas, who clearly understood everything the filthy little goblin had been taunting, calls out to the party, "There's more on the way, and they may be bringing fire to flush us out!" The priest pushes past Grotzkoshter and thrusts the tip of his longsword into the goblin's belly, causing innards to spill out over the flagstone floor, and dealing 8 points of damage. Torn open, the goblin crumples to the floor in a pool of his own blood and entrails.
Elyan hears, and everyone else sees, the remaining three goblins retreat on flapping feet down the hallway, leaving their leader to die alone. Twenty feet down the eastward hall, the trio of goblins rounds a corner and disappears from sight.
His sling drawn and nocked with a lead lump of a bullet, Korgrave slinks up behind Rogue and waits at the open doorway while shooting a surly remark at the party. "Total bunk, getting caught up in this. Think they'll come back, Kiaphas?"
