After clambering over both 5-ft crenellated half-walls, Karl, Elyan and Rogue find themselves in narrow quarters ten feet wide and twenty feet long. The floor is liberally strewn with sharp caltrops. A closed wooden door at the southern end of the hall blocks further progress.

Grotzkoshter, Kaeleen, and Meepo remain on the opposite side of the second half-wall and have yet to climb over.

Karl puts a cautious ear to the wooden door but hears no sounds issuing from the other side. A quick check of the door's iron lock indicates that the portal is merely closed and not locked.

Kaeleen waits to see what happens next.

OOC: Kaeleen had previously grabbed the rapier and fancy dagger.
 

Rapierless, Meepo grunts and shuffles forward. Holding his nose pinched tightly shut with one clawed hand, the kobold pats down the nearest dead goblin and, braving a bit of entrail on the floor, picks up a dagger better attuned to his own small size.

Once all the caltrops have been gathered, Kaeleen scales the small wall and waits for Karl to finishing checking the door.
 

Once everyone is over the half-wall and the caltrops have been collected, Karl proceeds to check the door and the surrounding walls for traps. Finding nothing that would indicate immediate harm will be done to the group, the lanky half-orc opens the wooden door. Empty and lightless, the lonely chamber beyond is home only to rat spore, crumbled flagstone, and nameless stains. Karl stoops down and has a look at the dirt and stains on the floor. Looking up, the half-orc grunts. "Can any of you track? There might be prints here."

Another door in the room flanks the left wall, heading east.
 

Stepping gingerly to avoid disturbing any existing tracks, but fairly certain that none of his companions are of the wilderness bent, Karl moves on to investigate the next portal.

"Doors. Always doors. No arches?"

He listens carefully before examining the next door for sounds and traps.

Elyan grins at Karl's question, then moves off quietly, gently pulling Rogue's ears when they stop to wait for the lanky half-orc to search the next door for traps.
