The party should now state INTENTIONS. Tell me where you want to move, who you want to attack, etc. I will post the update on Friday.

Sylvar will move as close as necessary to the group and switch songs in order to inspire courage (+2)... he will switch to just singing his song rather than playing the lute and singing...He trades his lute for his Naginata.

Lathir drops his disguise, takes his halfspear off his back and stabs the butt end into the muddy ground, waves his left and points at the nearest troll, calling a bolt of lightning from the sky.

Tam-Tam moves beside Sylvar, just behind and to the left of Thallok (as he's facing the Giants, etc). He has his bow at the ready:

"Sylvar, if you have any doubts about me, allow me to allay them. What target do you wish for me to strike first? I will fight beside you, though it is against my better nature to be so exposed, to prove to you, and the whole party, where my loyalties lie."

For a usually amiable, slick salesman type of a halfling, there is steel in Tam-Tam's eyes, when necessary...

Sylvar eyes Tam-Tam thoughtfully... I have no specific target, however, the song I am preparing to sing will quicken the mind of our group, giving us a slight advantage we wouldn't otherwise have. The effect only lasts as long as I am singing...so if you want to display your loyalty fight with everything you have and keep me singing. Your life may very well depend on it. Sylvar begins to hum a tune, something about it makes everyone feel stronger and more focused.

"Focus the enemy down one at a time," I rumble as I grit my teeth in determination. "The only way we come out of this without casualties is to fight with full conviction. I'm going to go all out. If I hit something and it doesn't drop... drop it before it drops me." With that I charge the hill giant leader.

OOC: Pounce, Whirling Frenzy, Powerful Charge, Heedless Charge (Power Attack), Battle Leader's Charge, Punishing Stance.

Attack 1: 29 to-hit, 64 damage. Attack 2: Unconfirmed (probably) Critical 32 to-hit, 18 to confirm, 44 damage. Attack 3: Missed (most likely) 17 to-hit, damage not rolled.

Kleborn: "let's do this lads, I am ready for a good fight. The injured party will go down quickly. The rest are about to meet their ends."

Thallok: "I never liked these guys anyway." He draws his Falchion and prepares for a fight.

Tam-Tam replies:"Then I will stand 20 halfling paces (two squares? if they're 5 ft. ones) before you and shoot from here. A sort of offensive defense, if you will."

Hearing Dewydd's comment about the Giant leader, Tam-Tam then gets his bow ready with an extra arrow in hand and strides before Sylvar, taking aim at the Ogre marked #1.

Lambs To The Slaughter

Dewydd charges the lead giant, throwing caution to the wind, taking full advantage of the brute's slow reaction time, catching him exposed and unprepared.

GM:
Giant is flat-footed; no attack of opportunity due to reach.
Damage: 64+44 = 108 pts. (You were correct, 18 does NOT crit, not that it matters anyway.)

Dewydd's first strike is aimed low, striking the Giant in the ankle, with enough force to sever the Giant's foot! The Giant leader screams in agony as he topples to the ground; without missing a beat, Dewydd stabs the Giant in the eye with his riposte, not quite enough to kill the brute completely, but more than adequate to get him most of the way there. The Giant's screams cease almost as suddenly as they began.

GM:
Giant = -6, Dying
Giant has been removed from the map to prevent clutter. (His body is, of course, still there.)

Thallok is next, charging the lead Orc, whom he recognizes! This is Kraddock Boneblade, a particularly ruthless Orc Lieutenant, known for the pleasure he takes in torturing prisoners. Thallok has no reservations whatsoever about his decision to attack.

GM:
Smite Enemy = +2
Charging = +2
Enemy is flat-footed; AC = 14
Thallok's AC until his next turn = 16-2 = 14. (From charging)
Total To-Hit Roll = 1d20+16 = 25 (Hit)
Mountain Hammer = +2d6 Damage
Total Damage = 2d4+2d6+7 = 19 pts.

Thallok brings his Falchion down on the Lieutenant's head, denting his helmet, and causing his knees to buckle. Kraddock manages to maintain his balance and remain standing, but he is nevertheless gravely injured, as is evidenced by the blood flowing freely from beneath the helmet.

As this is happening, Tam-Tam moves into his previously stated position, although it requires great effort for the halfling to slog through the deep mud.

GM:
Tam, you were forced to take a double move in order to reach your desired position.

Kleborn follows suit, remembering Dewydd's advice about concentrating one one enemy at a time. He charges Kraddock just a hair behind Thallok, using his shield to knock the Orc off balance, so that he can stab him viciously with his longsword.

GM:
Charging = +2
Enemy is flat-footed; AC=14
Kleborn's AC until next round = 25-2 = 23. (from charging)
Total To-Hit Roll: 1d20+14 = 27 (Hit)
Total Damage = 1d8+7 = 11 pts.
Kraddock has taken a total of 30 pts. damage.

As Kraddock is reeling from Thallok's vicious strike, Kleborn rushes in, knocking him out of position with the rim of his shield. As Kraddock is trying to right himself, Kleborn stabs him with the practiced ease of a seasoned shield fighter, puncturing Kraddock's chain shirt, impaling the Orc Lieutenant through the abdomen. Kraddock slumps to the ground, where he begins to bleed out.

GM:
Kraddock = -8, Dying

As Kraddock slumps to the ground, Troll #1 is struck by a bolt of lightning from the rainy sky.

GM:
Troll Reflex Save = DC 19 = 20 (Saved)
Troll takes 13 from the bolt
Troll #1 has taken a total of 42 pts. damage.

The Troll is taken completely aback by the sudden attack, and yet, he somehow manages to avoid taking the full brunt of the bolt's effect.

At this point, the second Giant screams in anger, and charges Dewydd, saying, "My brother's death shall be avenged!"

GM:
With Ogre #2 down and out, there is ample room for Giant #2 to charge Dewydd.
Giant calls Power Attack (9 pts, with a 2-H weapon, which doubles to 18)
+2 from Charging
-9 from Power Attack
Dewydd's AC = 22 (-2 charge, +2 WF) -8 (Power attack) = AC 14
Total To-Hit: 1d20+9 = 19 (Hit)
Total Damage = 2d8+28 = 37 Pts.

Dewydd, you see the Giant coming, and there isn't much you can do to get out of the way; you're too far out of position. However, you do manage to turn with the blow, taking a half-step just as the greatclub slams into the backplate of your armor. You manage to remain standing, but you feel immense pain, as the massive blow rattles your entire body, breaks three of your ribs, and dislocates one of the vertebrae in your spine! This blow would have easily killed a normal man, but your long years of battle experience as a mercenary save your bacon once again.

GM:
Don't worry, no additional effects, just trying to describe the damage in a dramatic way.
Dewydd: Max Hit Pts = 87; Current Hit Pts = 50

Orcs 2, 3, and 5 move to attack. Orcs 4 and 6 move to support positions (requiring a double move.)

GM:
Orcs 2 and 5 charge Kleborn, seeking vengeance for stabbing their leader.
Orcs both call 3 pts. of Power Attack
Orc 2 To-Hit: 17 (Miss)
Orc 5 To-Hit: 19 (Miss)
Orc 3 Charges Dewydd, calling 3 pts. Power Attack.
Orc 3 To-Hit: 12 (Miss)

As the Orcs rush to battle, Kleborn and Dewydd acquit themselves admirably, easily fending off their clumsy swings.

Kleborn taunts Orc #5, who actually didn't miss by much, saying: "Anger is the true enemy, my little scrub. You'll need a cool head to prevail against me."

As if on queue, Sylvar begins to sing: "Swing big, miss big, angry little Orc; you're not a warrior, you're a frustrated Dork!"

As he sings, he moves up beside Tam-Tam.

GM:
Inspire Courage gives all party members the following bonuses:

+2 to saves vs. Charm and Fear
+2 To-Hit
+2 To Damage

Although Sylvar's song inspires courage in his allies, it inspires rage in the Trolls; Troll #2 moves up (double move) to assist Ogre #1. However, Troll #1 charges Lathir in a frothing rage!

GM:
Dewydd, you get an attack of opportunity as the Troll charges recklessly past you.
Troll's AC while charging = AC: 14

GM:
I will need to resolve Dewydd's AoO before I can resolve the Troll's charge attack. Dewydd, make your attack roll.
